Bill Withers Live At Carnegie Hall Numbered Limited Edition 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE 2 LP SET
Bill Withers Live At Carnegie Hall On Numbered, Limited Edition 180g 2LP From Mobile Fidelity! Mastered From Original Master Tapes & Pressed At RTI!
Stupendous 1973 Concert Set Ranks Alongside James Brown's Live at the Apollo and B.B. King's Live at the Regal!
Easygoing Portrait of Down-Home Soul Singer Coming Into His Own and Establishing an Indelible Bond Between Performer and Audience
Mastered From the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity Takes You Inside the Famed Venue and Lets You Be a Part of the Event
On par with the most treasured concert albums of the 60s and 70s, Bill Withers’ transformative Live at Carnegie Hall is a forgotten classic—an easygoing portrait of an a down-home soul artist coming into his own in front of an audience eager to share every moment of his brilliance. Soothing with subtlety, charming with calmness, and healing with a vocal timbre as relaxing as his grooves, Withers uses the stage to expand the range of favorites and engage in dialog with the crowd. Distinguished with sonics that restore the performances’ balance and improve the soundstaging, this reissue takes you inside the venue.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g 2LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity’s 180g 2LP set of this extraordinary 1973 record provides a transparent view of Withers’ relaxing timbre and the subtle grooves underlining his arrangements. Characteristics ranging from the tension of the guitars, funky bends of the bass, whisper-soft coo of the formal strings, airiness of the backing harmonies, and sharpness of the snare drum emerge with utmost clarity and lifelike presence.
Moreover, aspects that really make this concert document unique—the energetic crowd, Withers and his band’s willingness to extend arrangements, and the undeniable communicative bond between the performer and his fans—are brought into fuller relief. While most live albums give you the sense of what transpired, Mobile Fidelity’s reissue allows it to seem that what you’re hearing and sensing is happening right now, in the moment. You are as much a participant as listener. For this reason and more, Live at Carnegie Hall ranks with James Brown’s Live at the Apollo and B.B. King’s Live at the Regal. No small claims, but the proof is in the grooves.
The antithesis of the sweaty R&B shouter that prowls the edge of stages, Withers deals in mellowness and vulnerability, qualities that come to fore. The songs here span soul, blues, and folk and often times, contain elements of all three styles. Live at Carnegie Hall also deals with serious subject matter with unflinching honesty and simple directness. Companionship, poverty, war, maturity, family, and love all crop up within Withers’ tunes, yet the messages are never overly cumbersome or preachy. Credit goes to his easygoing style and relatable lyrics, not to mention a tight-as-a-vice band that on this night is simply “on.”
“One more time?” Withers asks in response to a request for another stanza during “Use Me,” and like the snap of fingers, his musicians are right back on cue, the crowd clapping along on every beat. This classic, as well as the instantly familiar “Ain’t No Sunshine,” poignant “Grandma’s Hands,” and all-time favorite “Lean On Me” are delivered with utmost soulfulness, passion, and electricity. Few, if any, live albums demonstrate such a bond between the crowd and artist as Live at Carnegie Hall. You’ll definitely want to be there. Mobile Fidelity makes it happen.

180g Audiophile Vinyl! Released During the Heyday of Bill Withers' Unique Soul Croon!
+'Justments was released in 1974, the heyday of Bill Withers' unique soul croon. After his wildly successful studio albums Just As I Am and Still Bill, and the impressive live album Live At Carnegie Hall, Withers got to pick his own band to back him up. He chose members of Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, a group that rose to fame in the Funk scene in the early Seventies.
"+'Justments stands out for being the last album where the artist's unique character takes the foreground rather than being mostly left to drown in a glossy production." -Quint Kik, allmusic.com

Bill Withers Still Bill 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 4 MEN WITH BREADS OUT OF PRINT LP
180 Gram Vinyl! Deluxe Reproduction of the Original Sleeve! Second Studio Album Featuring "Use Me", "Lean On Me" & More!!
The profound honesty and sensitivity found in his timeless music has made Bill Withers one of America's premier singer/songwriters. Combining soulful warmth, a genuine and folksy feel with his immediately recognizable voice, Withers has sung his way into the hearts of millions worldwide. His ability to say what so many feel is uncanny. There is no other like him. Bill Withers is mentioned in the same breath as the greats - Stevie, Marvin, Donny - yet none sing with the directness, write with the frankness, nor compare in articulating the truth with such sparseness. He is a singer and songwriter who has topped pop charts and received awards, been covered by Barbra Streisand and looped by Dr. Dre, and continues to influence an entire generation of artists.
Still Bill is the second studio album from Bill Withers, originally released in 1972 and featuring the mega-hit “Lean On Me” (the first track ever to reach #1 on the Soul chart and the Billboard Hot 100). Featuring members of the Watts 103rd St. Rhythm Band, Still Bill also features the funky classic, “Use Me”, amongst a handful of other powerful songwriting and performance efforts.
Fueled by a pimp-strut organ riff, "Use Me" contains the best of Withers: It's both deeply soulful and catchy. "Lean on Me" is a classic singalong -- but not just because of the arm-swaying chorus; Withers sets up the anthem with a heartfelt, gritty vocal performance. "Who Is He (and What Is He to You)?" is one of the coolest expressions of jealousy you'll ever hear, which doesn't make the song any less painful.
Possibly Withers’ finest album from start to finish, it’s reissued here on 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe reproduction of the original sleeve.

JUST AS I AM - AUDIOPHILE HEAVY SPEAKERS CORNER LIMITED EDITION 180 GRAM PRESSING "…This doesn't sound like a debut because it is backed up by years of song writing and a mature, soulful voice that is honest and warm. This is a superb album for the quality of songs, singing and a backing that contained Stephen Stills (guitar), Donald 'Duck' Dunn (bass) and Jim Keltner (drums) among others…This is a beautiful sounding LP and Speakers Corner has done a superb job as ever. Bill's Greatest Hits sounds pale by comparison." Recording = 9/10; Music = 10/10 – Jason Kennedy, Hi-Fi+, Issue 56
By the time Bill Withers made this, his debut recording, he'd already served for many years in the US Navy, had a job as a milkman and installed toilets in jets for American airplane construction companies. All the while, he bombarded record companies with self-produced demo tapes that landed in the dustbin. In 1971 came his breakthrough when the successful producer Booker T. Jones hauled him onboard and sent him into the studio with guitarist Stephen Stills, drummer Al Jackson and bass player Donald "Duck" Dunn. In his debut album, Withers demonstrates his universal, mature competence as a singer, composer and performer, which was hardly surpassed in his later recordings.
BILL WITHERS - GREATEST HITS - Factory Sealed OUT OF PRINT ORIGINAL LABEL SONY COLUMBIA RECORDS 180 GRAM ISSUE - P 756987 LP
Bill Withers has written two bonafide classics - Ain’t No Sunshine and Lean On Me, as well as recording a slew of memorable hits and songs covered by everyone from Joe Cocker, Isaac Hayes to Kiss. Still he is under-appreciated. His voice is smooth, his singing is subtle and his songs move along over sensuous, sexy grooves. It’s all so effortless that it is easy to overlook how substantial Withers work really is -- never flashy, his best song - Burn - with a heat that lingers long after the last note has been played. This slender 10 track collection brings together a few songs from his remarkable early seventies Sussex Album including such hits and near hits as - Grandma’s Hands - Who Is He? and the seriously funky - Use Me, as well as some gems from the later seventies including - Lovely Day.
TRACKS ARE:
JUST THE TWO OF US
USE ME
AIN'T NO SUNSHINE
LOVELY DAY
I WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT
SOUL SHADOWS
LEAN ON ME
GRANDMA'S HANDS
HELLO LIKE BEFORE
WHO IS HE WHAT IS HE TO YOU
THE GREATEST HITS is a succinct collection of Withers work on this unique 180 Gram Audiophile Pressing
