Description
Here is one of the rarest Savoy titles entitled "Saying Something" by trumpeter Bill Hardman featuring Ronnie Matthews, Sonny Redd, Doug Watkins, and Jimmy Cobb. A fantastic session! Cover is still in shrink but has a bit of warping/bending at the opening corners. Buyer may choose to remove shrink to let these flatten out a bit over time? Vinyl is visually pretty clean with just a few tiny non-feelable scuffs. Track two of side one has about a 5 second section where Sonny Redd's saxophone sounds slightly distorted (he blows particularly hard on this moment). Track three of side one has about 15-30 seconds of some strange "ghosting"(hard to explain but some sort of slight feedback/reverse echo that is audible). Otherwise the rest of the album plays beautifully NM. I cleaned this on a clear audio RCM and listened critically to both sides twice and other then these two issues on side one it plays superb. Fans of Blue Note, Riverside, Prestige, etc take note!
