Greetings vinyl lovers and welcome to how record sales on e-bay should be done; both pre and post sale. The mound of detail contained within this listing is intended to inform and assist you in deciding if, a.) this is the copy of the record you’ve been searching for and b.) I’m the person you wish to buy it from. Buying vinyl records on e-bay can be a little “hit and miss”, however, you need not worry here! All items will be served-up as efficiently as possible, thus encouraging repeat business amongst my splendid and loyal customers… just check all that glowing feedback!

I grade to a strict Record Collector grading system, as it’s simply not in my best interests not to! Please take it for granted that these items are precisely as detailed below, with NO clicks, skips or pops here or in ANY of my listings, unless clearly graded and itemized as such below. However, I should also state that I only list lovely items, with all others going straight to the local charity shops.

If it says “mint”, it means “mint”!

Pre-Sale: The vinyl is re-housed in a brand-new polly-lined paper inner sleeve and the original pic/lyric bag, obviously, retained. Once highly scrutinized, both physically and aurally, it’s then appointed a grading, photographed and the whole thing then carefully stored in a brand-new outer sleeve.

Post-sale: All items are re-inspected and the vinyl re-housed along with the cover in the outer polly-sleeve, to ensure the vinyl does not cut through the outer sleeve whilst in transport. It’s then bundled in the BEST and most CAREFULLY wrapped packaging you’ll see this or the other side of Xmas, so you receive the gem you won in the same awesome condition as when it’s SWIFTLY dispatched after payment’s cleared.

Some of these records may well be the ONLY copy being offered on the bay; some, one of dozens… the difference is that this one will not only be one of, if not the BEST, but I also do everything possible to ensure it gets to YOU both quickly and in the same superb condition!

Introduction and MacLizardking’s Initial Review: Okay, so “man cannot live by 45’s alone…!” Taking a break from our 45 listings today, I’ve plucked a few seriously choice gems from the collection with which to tempt you lucky lot! First up, an utter corker from the Granddaddy of Rock n’ Roll, Mr Bill Haley and His Comets. This is the first volume from the “Live It Up! series (one of three, I believe) and is in seriously tempting condition, both in and out. A lovely, fully laminated sleeve, housing a 10” vinyl with light markings (as detailed below) on the surface, that still offers great reproduction,  start to finish… indeed, I’m playing it through as I’m typing this (nodding and tapping away!) and I’m pondering if I even want to sell it! However, needs must… etc… Now, please read on for the full, glorious details… being both my personal description statement and accuracy of condition guarantee.

Detailed Cover & Inner-sleeve Review.

Specific cover grading: EX

Comment: A strong EX. JU56/11

Front: Two light stress creases to top seam and two to lower, four miniscule marks above the H of Haley, all else tight bright lamination.

Back: Tight and undamaged foldbacks top and bottom and slightest ridging to sleeve opening, and that’s all folks!

Edges & Corners: All in incredible shape, sharp and pointy, just the slightest dink to (from front) bottom left corner. All seams, including spine seam (flat, not shaped) totally unworn.

Inner-sleeve: Funnily enough, there’s two… what I suspect may be the original, a crescent shaped polly sleeve, but also now a Emitex, paper, polly lined 10” liner, that I’ll leave this lovely in! 

Record Collector Sleeve Gradings Explained;

M (Mint) : “The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition”

NM (Near Mint) : A whisper off perfect, as described above.

EX (Excellent): “The cover and packaging might have minor ware and/or creasing”

VG (Very Good) : “Normal ware and tare on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable”

G (Good) : “The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc”.

F (Fair) : “The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced”.

P (Poor) : “The cover or contents will be badly damaged or partly missing”.

Detailed Vinyl/s & Labels Review.

Specific Vinyl grading: VG

Comment: EX, but I guess if you include the surface mark at end of side two, must be VG, though this does NOT look like it’s been played a lot.

Visual: STILL bright and mirror-like vinyl, with a few light surface scuffs and a couple of the lightest skate marks, but also has an odd, I guess, surface stain on the last track of side two, which I’ve attempted to photograph below. This does not register aurally what-so-ever!!!

Audio: There’s LIGHT crackle on the play-in’s, which is also detectable between the tracks, in a few places more pronounced, but ALL the tracks play without clicks, ticks or pops. At the absolute worst, it’s just possible to detect a seriously infinitesimal amount of top in sibilance in a FEW places or even the VERY lightest tickle of back-ground crackle during some of the more delicate tracks. STILL a great listen, start to finish and, as mentioned above, the surface mark at the end of side two does not register what so ever! (As I’ve tried to picture below).

Labels: Seriously tidy, not a spindle mark on ‘em, and being a 56 release, is “M” tax stamped on side one.

Record Collector Vinyl Gradings Explained;

M (Mint) : “The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.”

NM (Near Mint) : A whisper off perfect, as described above.

EX (Excellent) : “The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality”

VG (Very Good) : “The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch”

G (Good) : “The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches”

F (Fair) : “The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump”.

P (Poor) : “The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc”.

B (Bad) : “The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler”.

As soon as the auction has finished, or on a Monday morn for items finishing at the weekend, I’ll e-mail notification with all p&p info as detailed below, including registration & insurance details. Should you wish to combine and bid on further items, just let me know and I’ll re-invoice when you’ve finished – max 5 discs per package.

As the sale progresses, I keep my buyers updated at every twist and turn via the following mails;

·         1. Initial “You’ve Won!” invoice e-mail, all offering optional registration/insurance to £30.00 coverage.

·         2. Payment received e-mail. Feedback is also left at this stage. You’ve done your bit, so now it’s up to me!

·         3. Dispatch notification e-mail.

Postage & Packaging Charges and Payment Method Preferences:

All lp’s from my organisation are dispatched in top quality, bought-in for the job cruciform record mailers and stiffeners, procured from the simply superb www.covers33.co.uk . Should you have the need for some truly top-notch service and product, they’re a genuinely friendly and helpful organisation. I should also point out I take great pride and care with my packaging and while I do charge slightly more than some sellers, you receive significantly more bangs for your buck, as it were, including an lp in the same condition as when it’s swiftly dispatched after payments cleared. I should also note, I now obtain “proof of dispatch” certification from my local post office, not the same as the signed for service, though, in five years of trading, I’ve only had one truly vanish, about four have come back to me (all in the same condition as when posted!) and only two arrive damaged out of well over three thousand items dispatched!

Four LP’s: An item of serious beauty! Large boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with six/seven large-stiffeners. Side sealed and banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with double gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole things banded with “Fragile” tape.

Five LP’s: “Le Mutts Cahones!” Large boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with eight large-stiffeners. Side sealed with packing tape, banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with double gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole thing, again side sealed and then banded with “Fragile” tape.

P&P Prices:

Albums & 12” Singles

Solo 12” LP Record: UK = £3.00, Europe = £4.50, Rest of World = £7.00

For additional 12’s, double or triple disc sets, please add the following cost per disc, up to a maximum of 5 discs per package.

UK + £1.50, Europe + £2.50, Rest of World + £3.00

Please note that it is no more than 5 lp discs per package, or it’s the dreaded “UK Parcel Service” or “International Parcel Service”, and I won’t use their services as a.) it’s more expensive that separate Air Mail packages, b.) LP’s are always damaged and/or crushed by the heavy boxes they’re shipped with and c.) it takes ages and ages!

Registration and Insurance of Packages Valued OVER £50:00:

All packages with a content value in excess of £50:00 must be registered. Beyond that, all invoices will automatically offer the option of registration, providing both a tracking number and up to £30.00 compensation should something go awry. These fees, on packages valued less than £50, are optional, but are offered on all sales invoices as standard, it is your choice as to whether or not to take up this additional cover.

“Signed For Service” UK = £1.00 per package. Europe & Rest of The World = £3.50 per package.

Once dispatched, all items are the responsibility of the Buyer, though if the item was registered I will obviously assist in the tracking of any item that goes missing or is damaged.

Payment Methods:

PayPal is the primo method of choice for either UK or overseas buyers. Within the UK and as long as you can handle the wait, personal cheques or postal orders are also acceptable. For overseas buyers if not PayPal, then cash (GBP, USD or Euros) is okay, though ONLY if it is registered. Sorry, no overseas cheques, unless issued from a UK bank or building society.

Please note, these are the charges - they are non-negotiable; particularly post-auction! If you think they’re unreasonable, please, do not bid. I know what my costs and overheads are and, with all due respect to first time MacLizardking customers who have yet to enjoy the experience (read that feedback folks!), you do not!

Should things go “boink”…

The standard rules apply to refunds – i.e. bar cack-handed service from our postal services, if you’re not happy with the condition of the item in comparison with the description, neither am I. So, on receipt of the goods in the original packaging and in the same condition as when dispatched, a full refund will be made of your original payment.

And finally…

Whilst this may all appear slightly excessive on the detail front, I do go to great lengths to ensure the accuracy of these listings and promote “service” and “honesty” as treasured commodities as, on occasion, I have found them to be lacking in (one or two) others with which I have dealt on e-bay - But NOT here! I feel I should also add that I have been professionally involved in either the music or entertainment industry for the last 20 years and as a fan of all genre’s of music since year “dot” – in my case, the mid 60’s – what a decade, wish I was old enough to remember it!
