Description
Up for auction is a classic piece of jazz history: Bill Evans and Jim Hall’s "Undercurrent." This is an original or very early mono pressing on the United Artists Jazz label (UAJS 15003). Featuring the iconic Toni Frissell cover art, this album is a must-have for any serious jazz collector.
"Vinyl is VG with light surface scuffs and hairlines; plays with some light background noise typical of a 1962 pressing but remains a very enjoyable listen. Textured gatefold jacket is VG with some edge wear and chipping on the spine as shown. Inner gatefold is clean. Note: Spine reflects stereo cat # UAJS 15003, but record and internal jacket are the desired Mono UAJ 14003 pressing."
This is a unique but common variation:
The Record is Mono (UAJ 14003).
The Spine is printed with the Stereo catalog number (UAJS 15003).
Why? In 1962, United Artists often used the same jacket for both versions to save money.
