One of my favorite bands of all-time, (and yours, too...if you've come this far!!!)
BIG STAR
I have a collection of nearly 5,000 vinyl LP's, ran a REAL music store back in the day, and collected a LOT of stuff....great stuff...and now, the time has come to clear some of it out! (Not to worry....I have another copy of this, for myself! Ha Ha Ha)
So...this is a VERY nice, Near Mint copy of Big Star's, Radio City LP....This IS the Original and was released in 1974! The vinyl is Near Mint. (barely played...I used to make tapes and store the vinyl away....still do, as a matter of fact!)...The sleeve isn't so bad...especially for a 40 year old album!!! Check out the spine...you never see them this good. Promo cut and sticker are shown, in the pictures. (ARDENT - ADS-1501). Label is CLEAN, on both sides...NO writing, scrbbling or anything. I have had this in my collection for nearly 25 years, now! Couple of nice imprints, in the run-out grooves...special surprise...pretty cool what they used to do back in the record pressing plants!) The inner sleeve is the original STAX, black sleeve showcasing some of the other great STAX LP's offered at the time, remember those?!!! Good Days!
Now....HERE is the real kicker!!! Also included is part of the original, press kit that would have been sent along with the record to DJ's and record store owners....This is NOT a reprint....it was an article from "Phonograph Record", describing a Big Star show...which was mailed to a record store in Chicago, back in 1974, FROM Ardent!!!!....Check out the front side of the mailer....you will see the January 1974 Postage mark and Memphis! Pretty cool, huh!!! This album hadn't even been released yet, to the public.....which is even better, because the sound quality of early promo vinyl is better than later pressings due to the fact that the master "stamper" plates haven't punched out a million copies, yet! So...NOW, you know!!! TRUE STORY!!!
