Description

Beverley Simmons - 'Remember Otis'-  12" inch vinyl stereo LP (33 rpm)  – Pama Special - 1968             (cr)

Description

  • 12 inch, vinyl stereo LP - 33 rpm
  •  Issued in 1968 on the Pama Records label under the Pama Special imprint
  • Pama Records was set up by Harry, Jeff and Carl Palmer as a soul and, later, a reggae label
  • I can find nothing about Beverley Simmons other than she was born in 1950 in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1968 she recorded a cover of Trains and Boats and Planes and sang with Pat Kelly of The Techniques
  • The album was recorded as a tribute to Otis Redding, who had died in a plane crash in the previous December. It features a number of covers of numbers particularly associated with Otis Redding
  • Track listing:
  • Side 1:-  Track 1 - Down In The Valley; Track 2 - My Girl (Boy); Track 3, Ole Man Trouble; Track 4, Satisfaction; Track 5 - I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now); Track 6 - Mr. Pitiful
  • Side 2:-  Track 1 - Fa Fa Fa (Sad Song); Track 2 - These Arms Of Mine; Track 3 - Pain In My Heart; Track 4 - My Lover's Prayer; Track 5 - That's How Strong My Love Is; Track 6 - Respect
  • Musical arrangements and production by the Palmer Brothers
  • Produced by Paddy Flynn and Warrior, engineered by Paddy Flynn.
  • Black cover with white edging with the album title in cursive script
  • The back cover has a full track listing with sleeve notes by Harry Palmer
  • Plain, white inner sleeve
  • Manufactured in Great Britain

  • Catalogue number PMLP 9 SP
  • Side 1:- Stamped PMLP+9+SP+A
  • Side 2:- Stamped PNLP+9+SP+A

Condition

  • The record looks to be in very good condition apart from a couple of scuffs on side 1 (see photos). These don't seem to be audible on playback.
  • The cover is sound but is a little grubby on the rear with a couple of biro marks. Some creasing in the laminate, some ring wear and slight edge wear at the opening (see photos)
  • Inner sleeve has some slight creasing but otherwise unmarked (see photos)
  • Based on the guidelines of the Record Collectors Guild, I would say this record is 'Good+' (www.recordcollectorsguild.org)
