This is a concise compilation of the best moments from the now defunct Black Jazz Records, with contributions from the label's main players - Doug Carn,
Calvin Keys and The Awakening. All thirteen tracks capture the essence of the early 70's jazz underground, mixing the obvious influences of Miles Davis,
John Coltrane and Charles Mingus with R & B, funk and soul. Standout tracks? well, all of them really!

Every track has something to offer, from the grinding jazz-funk of Calvin Keys' 'Aunt Lovey' to
Kellee Patterson's smooth, smoky vocals on 'Maiden Voyage' to Roland Haynes' sultry 'Eglise' - a track so relaxed it's virtually horizontal.
This is a great collection, worthy of a place in any ecord collection. Hats off again to Soul Jazz Records (and it's offshot label Universal Sound)
who have served up another musical gem.

Top notch compilation digging deep into the highly respected Black Jazz label. Initially This album was released in full cooperation
with the then owner of Black Jazz Records. However he later rather publicly withdrew consent, and started stating that this compilation was a bootleg. Due to this dispute this
was consequently withdrawn from sale and has now become rather collectable.

 As an avid collector of vinyl for the past 30+ years it is with a heavy heart that I am selling off my entire vinyl collection - mainly due to the arrival of a small family & the need for the space that all entails, coupled with lack of time to DJ and my spare time now being spent on creating music and setting up a small home studio.

I ship the item to their UK address & they send it onto you - I have no input to what they charge but please be aware Shipping items internationally with insurance is expensive. If you feel they have charged too much for postage - please check the postage stamp when you receive - I'm reliably informed they will refund and discrepancies in charges.

I aim to post items to you within 3 days of PayPal payment clearing. However with full time shift work and family this is not always possible as the nearest Post Office is 3 miles away. However any delays are usually rare.
