 Opera lovers who were thrilled by the recent Metropolitan live broadcast of Berlioz’s masterpiece and epic opera “LES TROYENS” must be anxious to lay their hands on a copy of this seldom recorded opera. To satisfy their wish and to give them a choice I am listing from my own private collection two SEPARATE items: A complete recording of the opera as well as a 2 LP box containing its most important highlights.

1st ever COMPLETE recording of Berlioz’s masterpiece “Les Troyens”. This is surely one of the most decorated recordings in operatic history!! This recording has been internationally acclaimed since its release as one of the most important productions of our time and has won FIVE of the most coveted awards the recording field can offer: 1)Prix Mondial du Disque, Montreux;  2) Edison Award, Amsterdam; 3) Deutscher Shallplatten Preis; 4) Grand Prix de l’Academie du Disque Français; and 5) Grand Prix des Discophiles, Paris. This note is taken from the promotional leaflet accompanying the set which also contains excerpts from what the various juries said about the recording.

Five records on the original Philips Red Stereo label, pressed in Holland. A magnificent trilingual booklet (French/English/German) 40-page large format. Stampers are AA on all sides. The icing on the cake is that this set looks brand new and the records do not seem to have ever been played!! Colin Davis conducts! Royal Opera House Covent Garden Orchestra and Chorus.
