Description
For auction is BENNY GOLSON's "The Modern Touch,"on Riverside RLP 12-256, MONO, DG, 1958. With Kenny Dorham, Paul Chambers, Jo Jones, Wynton Kelly, J.J. Johnson.
SOUND: VG
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The record plays excellently, with one caveat: there is a series of "clicks" for 90 seconds, during A2, "Reunion" due to a scratch (visible in pics.) The clicks are about medium volume. Other than this, the rest of the playback is excellent, and would be VG+ on its own, with a couple of faint "tics" here and there, but overall very, very nice.
VINYL: VG
There is a short, feel-able scratch in A2, which causes a systematic click for 43 revolutions (that's less than 90 seconds if you're doing the math.) The rest of side A is clean with no other defects. Side B has a few scuffs that appear to be superficial. Minus the scratch, the vinyl is in very nice shape. The small blue "mike-and-reel" labels are in excellent shape, with deep grooves.
JACKET: VG/VG+
Edges and spine are solid, with minimal wear. The corners too, are nice, with only minimal wear. The lower right has a little bump. The laminated front cover is clean and unmarked, with minimal wear (except the corner where the bump is, which has a tiny bit of laminate separating.) The back has a "property of" in blue pen across the top, otherwise clean, and has a bit of paper missing from above the photo.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
This is a great record, desired by many. This particular copy is slightly flawed, but I think the winner of this auction will realize very good value, as I'm listing this with no reserve, and the first bid only $10.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
