Beggar's Opera : Act One 1Y1 / 2Y1 1st Press Vertigo 1970
This symphonic progressive first pressing plays with stunning quality across both sides with no actual interference.  There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static and the audio is so clean and precise.  Just a touch of vocal distortion but it is so minor and totally non-intrusive.  It has been played a few times as there is some spindle wear but the clarity, depth and power of the recording is superb to say the least.  The vinyl is in excellent condition also.
The Keef cover has some wear but this is mainly restricted to the edges.  The original Vertigo inner sleeve is in excellent condition with only minimal wear.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a strong bright light I can see some faint hairlines but nothing obvious stands out.  There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves are very clean also.  The Vertigo labels are unmarked and just have some spindle wear.
Play Grading
The first part of the intro on 'Poet And Peasant' is very quiet and yet it plays so clearly with only a handful of minor statics.  As the volume increases the audio is perfect and this section continues in the same way.  Sonically it has lost nothing and plays as well as it would have done back in '70.  The clarity, depth and resonance of the audio is stunning and Griffiths' opening vocal has no intrusion either.  The organ piece is majestic and the following vocal is just as clean.  The next instrumental is flawless and to the end it plays with outstanding quality.  Is there a hint of vocal distortion?  If there is it is so so minimal and totally non-intrusive, it is hardly worth a mention.  Very symphonic and very strong audio!  Overall this opening track has to grade as Near Mint the playback is superb.
The intro on 'Passacaglia' plays with sublime clarity and warmth and the first vocal has no background either.  The next organ 'recital' is of course relatively quiet and yet it plays perfectly with not even a single dust tick.  Gardener's guitar solo section follows and it could not play any better.  This instrumental is long and yet the clarity and power of the audio is immense!  I only heard one light tick nothing else, you could easily miss it.  The next instrumental piece is just as strong and the final vocal again has zero intrusion.  The closing organ passage is STUNNING!  The clarity of sound throughout is breathtaking!  Yes one very minor tick but overall Mint- is well deserved.
'Memory' has one light static on the first note and the rest of the intro is more or less 'as new' with only a couple of barely audible statics.  The opening vocal has half a second of mega quiet static - there is a little inner groove distortion on the vocal during the more powerful moments but it's minor.  The closing section is similar but still plays incredibly well and the fade out has no background.  A Near Mint version.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 'intro' on 'Raymond's Road' has no background and then the brief silent section has only a handful of minor statics.  As the volume increases the audio is superb and this section continues to play with great power and depth, there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  Gardener's work is phenomenal during the next guitar piece - Wilson is trying to keep up on the drums and makes a fine job of it!  The next symphonic section is so strong and clear and to the end this fast paced opus plays with a sonic quality that could not be enhanced in any way.  A very impressive Mint- version.
'Light Cavalry' plays with genuine quality from the word go.  The staccato intro is flawless - a number of silent 'moments' and the clarity on this 55 year old vinyl is stunning.  As it continues there is no drop in quality and the opening vocal is on the same level.  This opus lasts nearly 12 minutes and yet every section plays with impeccable quality with no sign of any intrusion.  It's not your typical prog rock but there is no denying the quality of the audio.  The mid instrumental is a prime example - strong, deep bass work from Erskine followed by more exemplary work from Gardener.  If there is any inner groove distortion on the final vocal it is again so minimal and the closing instrumental rounds off things perfectly with tremendous power and depth.  I will grade this as ranging between Near Mint and Mint- and the long final note by the way has no intrusion.
The Gatefold & Vertigo Inner Sleeve
The Keef cover generally speaking is in excellent shape but because there is some rubbing on the edges I have graded it as VG+.  The top edges actually don't have too much rubbing but the bottom ones do have more.  The wide spine has some marks / rubbing also as do all the corners but not an excessive amount.  The opening edge has only light handling wear.  The front cover is in very clean overall with only one small scuff just below the title, you can see some of the rubbing on the edges also.  The back cover has no marking aside from some edge rubbing again and the inside of the gatefold is in superb condition with no marking.  A strong example overall.
The original poly-lined Vertigo inner (dated 1070) is in great condition with no side splits or tears and only very minimal marking.  Some light creasing also.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
