Notes

Included with the box set is a 20-page, 12" x 12" booklet, featuring biographical information on the performers, background information on Beethoven's process as well as information on the symphonies themselves. The lyrics to the famous "Ode To Joy" section of the 9th symphony are included also. 

There is also a 12" x 12" 1-sheet insert, which gives the track list for each LP, gives the date on which each symphony was first performed and gives the date on which each symphony was performed/recorded for this release.  Recorded at Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin on Dec. 1961 (1), Dec. 1961-Jan. 1962 (2), Nov. 1962 (3 & 4), Mar. 1962 (5 & 7), Feb. 1962 (8) and Nov. 1962 (9)

MINT (M): Like New

NEAR MINT (NM): RECORD GRADE: extremely nice, very well taken care, played but a few times

                             COVER GRADE: would be mint except for the slightest ring or shelf wear

EXCELLENT (EX): RECORD GRADE: nice, would be NM except for light sleeve marks or very light hairline scratch that doesn't effect play

                             COVER GRADE: would be NM except for very light ring/shelf wear or crease

VERY GOOD+ (VG+): RECORD GRADE:  taken care of, but used, may have light scuffs or scratches, plays with some light surface noise, but still very enjoyable.

                                  COVER GRADE: shows light ring or shelf wear or crease. (this would be specified when grading)

VERY GOOD (VG): RECORD GRADE: A well used record with scratches or scuffs, no deep scratches, should sound OK, but may have moderate surface noise & pops

                               COVER GRADE: Shows moderate ring or shelf wear, creases, possible stain, possible writing on cover (woc), possible seam splits (would be specified in grade)

GOOD (G): RECORD GRADE: Has scratches, should play all the way through, but possibly a skip, lots of surface noise, crackles & pops

                   COVER GRADE: Not well taken care of, possibly some damage [water, tears, lots of writing] - (would be specified in grade)

FAIR (F): Strictly a filler, this wouldn't be listed if it wasn't rare!
