The New Rock Musical From Clear Light Productions
Original 1973 private pressing on Clear Light Productions (Newton MA) (matrix # CL 2-101), with gatefold sleeve.Wild and epic Christian rock musical double album from the Boston multimedia Xian collective Clear Light.
Some bombastic hard prog tunes with psych touches ("Journey to Calvary" mp3 edit here), some period Jesus rock with horns, even one really out bass-heavy funky poly-rhythmic piece ("Overture" mp3 here) that sounds straight out of Factory Records circa 1979... think "UFO" by ESG.
From Clear Light founder Eric Anderson's biography: "This Christian start-up company was founded by some friends from Park Street Church to use multi-media to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to secular man. We used banks of slide projectors and other devices to do this, along with rock music. We got tossed out of Park Street Church for using rock music!"
CONDITION: Cover NM+ / Vinyl VG to VG+ cover is close to brand new; vinyl is clean, just a couple stray hairline surface scratches across the four sides, plays very well, with some background noise in some quiet spots. Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards [G / G+ / VG / VG+ / NM / MINT]MINT grade only used if record is brand new.
