This is a very rare issue of the legendary gold edition of the beatles debut lp.As you know first presses had the "dick james" credits where the 2nd press had the the rarer "northern songs" credits.This copy i have for sale HAS BOTH!!,side 1 has "northern songs" credits and side 2 has "dick james" credits which makes this some sort of rare hybrid.Also it has the rare MT tax code credit on side 2 label
Cover
The original first press Ernest j day cover which has the "angus mcbean" credit in the far bottom right corner..after the "s" of "beatles" (this cover was only issued for the gold label copies of this album) is in Very good condition,the front has some creases and the bottom edge has some rubbing and a small split in the middle and on the opening edge.The back has some ageing and a small pen mark.Spine text is readable but has a little damage on the top.
Labels
The gold/black labels are very nice,the gold text is still strong with virtually no fading.The spindle holes have a tiny bit of rubbing around them but have not been coloured in
Record
The record which lies flat on the turntable with no warping is in Very good condition,it has some hairlines and a few marks but not thrashed!! and no big fingernail scratches.It plays really well with no sound distortion just a few clicks in places and little bits of low static it places..but it does play a lot better than the visual grade as it does not crackle throught
