(1966 Capitol T-2553) This is a colllectible, US issue 33rpm mono record album, "Yesterday and Today" by The Beatles. This is a “Second State” or “Pasteover” edition of the “Butcher Cover”. The black “V” of Ringo's undershirt behind his butcher jacket is clearly visible in the right spot...

Overall condition of this vinyl record and jacket together would be rated as FAIR to GOOD. The record shows lots of wear 'cause people played the proverbial tar outta their Beatles albums back in the day, oftentimes with 'hat pin' stylus needles.

The jacket, the real piece of interest here, is in fairly good shape. Some obvious yellowing has occurred through the years and the left and bottom seams are completely non-existent (split). There is a price sticker on the backside. Since this is a less than mint example, due to the edge wear, this might be a good candidate for a 'practice-run-peel', for someone who's got a mint cover they don't want to dive into un-experienced. Or, you could just slap this baby in a record frame and say “Look at my Second-State Butcher Cover” and no one would be the wiser regarding the seams...

There are varying opinions on what's best to do with a second state Butcher Cover. There are professionals that peel the “Trunk Covers” for a fee, with varying degrees of success. There are the adventuresome novices that feel the desire to try a 'peel' for themselves, with varying degrees of terror. And there's the other train of thought that if most of these second states keep getting peeled, will un-peeled “Trunk Covers” ultimately be the more desired piece?...
