Description
This is an ORIGINAL 1966 U.S. CAPITOL MONO COPY of the 1966 LP titled 'Yesterday And Today' from The Beatles WITH ITS ORIGINAL THIRD STATE PEELED 'BUTCHER COVER'. It is Capitol Records U.S. catalog number T 2553, with the number '3' next ro the RIAA logo at the lower right corner of the back cover.
As can be seen in my accompanying images, this is a peeled 'third state' butcher cover which apparently had been pasted over using the alcohol based factory glue which did not dissolve through steaming, so the previous owner who removed the top cover was forced to do so by slowly scraping the top cover off to reveal the butcher cover underneath. This painstaking process resulted in numerous small areas where the scraping process went down into the butcher cover itself. There are also some small areas around the outer edges of the butcher cover where small fragments of the top cover remain, and there are two somewhat larger area at the right hand corners of the butcher cover where it appears a previous owner had attempted to tear at the corner of the top cover to reveal the butcher cover underneath, and ended up tearing both the top cover and the butcher cover. There are also a couple of small lightly stained areas between John's and Paul's heads. There are no splits in either the top or bottom edges of the cover, but the spine is split for about the middle 4" and is frayed and worn for the rest of its length as can also be seen in my accompanying image.
Record comes packaged inside the butcher cover in its original 'Capitol '66 - Sounds Great!' inner sleeve, with pictures of other then-current U.S. Capitol Records LP releases; inner sleeve is in VG+ condition with a 3" split in its bottom edge which has been carefully and neatly repaired with clear tape; inner sleeve also has a few slight wrinkles.
Condition of record is VG with some surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and a few surface scratches which can be felt and which will probably cause ticks; obviously the value of this item rests in the 'butcher cover', the record can be inexpensively upgraded later if the buyer so chooses.
