Vinyl:
I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is FANTASTIC!!! There are not any jumps or skips. There is hardly ever any background noise at all!! I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!! I particularly liked "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", which is better and has far deeper dynamics than any other version/format I have ever heard! The vinyls are the very heavy kind as only used for these first presses. All sides have a beautiful glossy sheen. There are a few wispy hairlines here and there, mostly on side 3, but these are of no consequence for the replay.
Sleeve:
The gatefold sleeve ("Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd.") is one of the best I have seen, and I must say I have seen dozens over the last twenty years or so. Numbered toploaders turn up far less frequently though and many are now in Beatles collections all over the globe. These are the ones to have in your collection as they are the genuine FIRST press items. The later "side loaders" are actually not rare at all. Many of these sleeves have been ravished as they are quite prone to wear and any mark can be noticed straight away. This one is in great EX shape with only tiny edge creases and slight ringwear to the back. The inside g/f is better still. No creases or marks and NO writing. There is slight age related yellowing as all these have.
Inserts:
All four photos are in Excellent condition. The poster is VG+ at least with some slightly grubby marks near the bottom corners.
Original black inners (!!!) in VG condition with a fair amount of handling creases. One has two small bits of tape on the sides to combat seam splits.
Labels: EX+ one small name "Butler" discreetly written on side 4.
This an excellent investment opportunity!!!
