This is a superb pressing of the classic beatles album. An extremely rare First UK Matrix Pressing, with great vinyl, TOP AUDIO and great cover.
The Beatles second official L.P. release. Two weeks BEFORE release, "With The Beatles" had advance orders of 270,000, and before the first week of release was out, the half-a-million figure had been beaten. They were actually awarded a Silver disc (for sales of 250,000) on November 18th 1963, 4 days BEFORE release ! By mid January 1964 885,000 had been sold in the U.K. and by the end of 1964, the total was 980,000.
The ONE MILLION mark arrived by September 1965, making this album the FIRST EVER British album to sell 1,000,000 copies in the U.K. The American version of this album, Meet The Beatles bizarrely left off five of the tracks, but sold over 5 million copies. This makes combined sales for The Beatles second album of over 6.5 million.
Chartwise, this L.P. replaced "Please Please Me" at the number one slot, and remained there for 21 weeks. This gave The Beatles a continuous run of 51 weeks at the summit !_Also, in these early days of the British charts, ALL product was listed together regardless of format, and therefore this L.P. even made it into the U.K. singles chart, reaching number 11, which was a record placing for an album.
The cover was a very artful half-shadow black-and-white shot of The Beatles taken by Robert Freeman.
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:
Yes – brilliant sound quality throughout!
With the Beatles is an early rock and roll classic, a complex and varied collection of music and also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, hard to find in really clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Devil in Her Heart'. This great pressing plays with superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes. The harmonies are incredible, and on tracks like 'Hold Me Tight', the vocal separation is just amazing. Every instrument is bright and clear, and the audio layering is just astounding. You can hear sounds in this pressing that normally go unnoticed or are obliterated by even very slight (imperceptible) surface wear. On 'I Wanna Be Your Man', for example, there is a clear echo on McCartney's vocal that is normally lost, here it is bright and clear.
This rare record plays up to its visual grading and beyond. Super clear strong sound, this beautiful record plays with vibrant, TOP audio throughout. Strong, undistorted sound, the frequencies are sharp and clear and free of loud pops or clicks, even between the tracks there is barely an detectable static.
The channels are clean and unstressed with NO evidence of groove-wear whatsoever. This great vinyl plays with NO loud pops or clicks during the music. There is some occasional light background static, but it is light and very infrequent.
Great music with great clarity and so hard to find with this type of sound. John Lennon said that the Beatles were best listened to in mono, and when you listen to this pressing you can really hear what he meant. The music jumps out with incredible definition, power and clarity, giving an incredibly live raucous sound and a great MONO press experience. The bass and drums are so true, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten. Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, and obviously NO sticks or jumps what so ever. I will give a detailed account below:
Starting with 'It Won’t be Long', there are quiet run ins followed by really loud, bright audio. No pops, clicks or distortion and barely any detectable surface sound. With the 1st quiet track on the album, 'All I've got to Do', again the sound is superb. Lennon’s vocals are crystal clear. There is barely any surface static between tracks and no tics near the beginning of 'All My Loving’. This track plays with great audio, there are certainly no obvious issues like pops or clicks, just superb clear sound. 'Don't Bother Me' again plays with super clear sound. There is a small amount of surface static audible in the gap between tracks and occasionally during the music, but nothing unusual or obtrusive, any static is very hard to detect. 'Little Child' also plays superbly, with no tics or pops. Audio wise one of the really difficult tracks on the album, 'Till There Was You', again sounds super clear, with none of the blurring or distortion that this track is often prone to. There is a little light static audible in the background of this quiet track, audible here because of the quietness of this mainly acoustic track, but it is very infrequent and certainly not obtrusive. There are no discernible tics, pops or clicks at all. Finishing side 1, 'Please Mister Postman' continues the high standard, and like all the other tracks there are no pops or clicks, and not even a hint of distortion.
Side 2. begins with the raucous 'Roll Over Beethoven', and plays again with super bright audio, from the clear guitar intro throughout the track, with Harrison’s vocals super clear. There is barely a single discernible tic in the whole track, and listening to the ‘Blue Suede Shoes' line illustrates just how perfect the sound on this vinyl is the music. 'Hold Me Tight' again plays perfectly, as does 'You Really Gotta Hold on Me', with the vocal harmonies sounding crystal clear with great separation, and completely distortion-free. There are some faint tics in the gap between this and next track 'I Wanna Be Your Man’, but not during the music, which powers in with super clear sound and still not a single noticeable pop or click. The slower 'Devil in Her Heart' again plays really well, this really is a great audio performance with no obvious surface sound. There is a bit of light static between the tracks and then 'Not a Second Time' again plays brilliantly. Rounding off side 2. is the classic 'Money', a track on this album that nearly always plays with problems, heavy distortion and buzzing, on even little played pieces. This track I am delighted to say really does play with bright clear audio, with just a very low level of background static barely detectable over the piano intro, rounding off an incredible audio performance.
With every track playing superbly, this is an incredibly rare pressing. There is barely any static between the tracks, and thats pretty much the only obvious static found on the record. A great all round example of this classic vinyl. A staggering first Mono mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact. A great all round example of this great vinyl. This is a great Audio pleasure.
Graded at NEAR MINT.
THE RECORD
A lovely piece of glossy vinyl. Extremely heavy, there are a few faint hairlines, very light tiny scratches and sleeve removal marks, but nothing heavy and nothing that interrupts the sound. This vinyl has an amazing lustre, deep grooves that show no grove wear and no signs of over playing, that is clear from the amazing clear sound. A really great example!
Graded at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:
Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
THE LABELS
Both labels are in great condition, with barely a single spindle trace on each side and NO wear around the spindle hole! The ultra rare M K T tax credits are still black and un worn. Great examples of this rare classic pressing.
Graded at NEAR MINT.
THE COVER
With the Beatles was originally published with the misspelling 'You Really Gotta Hold on Me', on the track listing on the back of the cover. These were quickly corrected and removed fro circulation, so these GOTTA covers have become increasingly rare. If you are lucky enough to find a first press vinyl, having one with the correct matching cover is extremely rare and it is also one of the most prone to wear of all the Beatles albums.
Due to their light construction, and being the second Beatles album it is extremely hard to find With the Beatles covers in anything like decent condition. Along with Beatles for Sale I'd say that this is the hardest cover to find in great condition. This is a lovely example with only very light corner wear and some light creasing to the laminate.
With the Beatles covers have to be one of the most prone to wear, of all the classic Beatles vinyls from the sixties. The laminate is prone to cracking and lifting, with serious ring wear and destruction to the edges. The unlaminated back is usually heavily marked and the spines are nearly always flattened, worn and un readable. Not this one!
There is some very light scuffing to the corners, but no rubbing along the edges. The opening edges are very square and un frayed, with none of the usual splits at the opening, which these nearly always have. The white areas are very white, with no blemishes. The back cover is nice and clean, with no discernible ring wear, which is very unusual for these delicate covers.
The Spine shows minimal wear only, with no cracks, the spine text is totally intact, and is one of the squarer examples I have seen. A great example. All round, this is a really nice cover!
Graded at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS.
THE INNER
Comes with Original First Press Inner Sleeve with Polythene Lining. Great condition, just some light yellowing and a very slight split at the top, clearly shown in the image. States: "USE EMITEX..." & "IMPORTANT - TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR MICROGROOVE RECORDS ..."
EXCELLENT PLUS condition, NO tears around the die cut openings, and minimal wear at the tops. Crisp and Clean, this is a stunning example.
RARITY
An A1 B1 PRESSING of With the Beatles in this type of condition is extremely scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any original examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays really well is very rare.
Original UK Yellow and Black original pressings of With the Beatles are getting rarer by the day. Finding one in all round great condition is extremely rare, and makes this a very rare opportunity. All this and the ultra rare and ultra collectable 1 G stampers makes this an extreme rarity.
This is an Original First Uk Press from 1963 with Original Inner Sleeve and great original HEAVY PRESSED Vinyl. With Original Yellow and Black Parlophone Labels with the correct first press 'GOTTA' cover and TOP AUDIO. A wonderful and extremely rare pressing of this classic early Beatles album.
MAKING THIS A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY.

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:
Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or interference. Even with the cleanest vinyl pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build up of dust and dirt in the wide vinyl grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Static build up can reduce when played, and we advise a clean between plays for optimal performance.
SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:
