A piece of history: one of the most creative, inventive, subversive, funny, not to mention impeccably composed, crafted, played, arranged and produced albums of all time. This is the album that sent Charles Manson off the deep end, but don't worry. There is hardly a sinister overtone here. These 30 tracks (count 'em) are a monument to harmony and heartfelt emotion, even where such emotion is sarcasm or parody. By far my favorite Beatles album, and probably the one to outshine Sergeant Pepper. This rare double set hardly ever comes with the poster included. (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            WE GRADE THE VINYL AS VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters). Please note: one 2-inch scratch on side 1 is PROBABLY audible.

We could not "feel" these abrasions with our fingertip, and we suspect that they are NOT audible.

(b)            The album comes with the original poster still intact. A tear noted on the poster (however, no part of the poster is missing)

(c)             The album comes with the original BONUS photos of the four Beatles in beautiful condition.

(d)            The records are pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)             Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(f)              US Mono copies of this album are NOT known to exist (this was the first American Beatles album to be released in stereo only).

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         The gatefold cover has partially split seams on 2 out of 4 "legs" of the cover (about 2 and 4 inches / 1 inch = 2.5 centimeters).

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

-         Light “streaks” (off-white discolorations) noted on the cover (cover must be viewed under certain angle to notice them)

-         Cover has a tiny peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker. less than 1/16th square inch in size

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has some fraying/wear along the upper seam

-         Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners.

-         Cover has some JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No stickers or labels

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.

-         No warping

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.
