Description

BEATLES – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL STEREO.

1968 PMC 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING STEREO PRESSING WITH A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF  ‘ 0529706 ’.

The record labels on side One and Two DO NOT  have the  text  ‘ An EMI recording ’,   but   oddly on sides  Three an Four of the record labels  the text    ‘ An EMI recording’    DOES appear,   how odd !.

The spine of the sleeve is unusually  narrow  as it measures  just  4mm.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the double album gatefold sleeve is in very good condition.  The four opening edges of the sleeve are  all in very good condition.   On the front it has  an  embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL Number of   0529706,    this number appears clear and bold.  To the rear there is the word  ‘Stereo’  proving this to be a genuine STEREO sleeve.    The records are accessed from the top.    The spine is in very good condition,  all the text is  clear.  The spine  has a very  narrow  width  of   4mm,   on average these sleeves normally have a  spine width of 8mm.    The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down.  When the sleeve is opened it is very white, clean and tidy.  There are NO tears,  stains or Pen writing on the sleeve.     A very clean and well preserved  sleeve for its age.

INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black inners and have NOT been  replaced.  The two sleeves are in near very good condition, there is some   rubbing  edge wear and some general scuffing, but they are both complete and have NO  tears   around  the  single sided   ‘Die Cut holes’.

POSTER: is in near excellent condition,  the poster is very white and clean,  there  are NO tears, Pen writing, sellotape residue,  pin hole damage or blue tack residue.  The poster is made from thick paper.

PHOTOS: are in excellent condition,  the photo  of John and Paul have some curious horizontal lines on, these appear to be a  fault  in the printing process and NOT actual surface scratches.     The photos are made from the original thick card.   The rear of the photos are fresh and white with NO sellotape residue,  pin hole damage or Blue tack residue etc.

VINYL:  side One is in very good condition, side Two is in very good+ condition,    record Two, side Three is in very good+ condition and  side Four is in very good condition.   The two records are made of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl and are dark and  shiny.   The matrix nos. are YEX 709-1, YEX 710-1, YEX 711-1 and YEX 712-1.    The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘ 1    R O ’,   ‘ 1   G T ’,   ‘ 5   H  D ’ and ‘ 6   R  T ’.

AUDIO:  is generally near very good,  all sides play well but with some  crackle and the odd      ‘tick’.      Both the records lay flat on the turntable and play  well with NO sticking or jumps.

THE LABELS:  are all in very good condition,  the labels feature the original DARK green Apple colours.     It is  curious that Labels One and Two DO NOT have the text  ‘An EMI recording’,  while on labels Three and Four, this text is present !, all the labels show  ‘Sold in the UK’ etc text,  the George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’.     There is NO Pen writing or sticker residue etc.

***************

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
