The Album on offer:

A great example of a very hard to find Stereo WHITE ALBUM variation on the Dark Green Apple Labels, with “Sold In The UK Subject To Resale Price Conditions, See Price Lists” centre print. Omitting “ An E.M.I. Recording”. Very few of these were pressed, and rarely show up these days.

This has the ultra rare mis-press, on the side 4 label It states  “ReVOLUTION 9” instead of “REVOLUTION 9”. THIS A VERY RARE MIS-PRINT OF THE label in a lower case “e”.

I have to say that this is a really nice original first press uk 1968 Stereo issue with the labels omitting “An E.M.I recording" (This was found on later issues). IN ADDITION, All records have very early stampers and mothers making it one of the first copies pressed.

COVER

The fully laminated top opening Garrod & lofthouse gatefold low numbered cover (00480635) is a beautiful example and in Excellent + condition (see pics). This is by no means overated as it really is in marvellous condition. It is CLEAN with no tears and no stickers, writing, dis-colouration and no major ring wear, the colour of the cover is more white than yellow. There are minor edge creases but NO HALF MOON creases on the front side of the cover. The corners are nice and square with a little bumping (see pics). The raised beatles letters and the rare low number, are crisp and clear. The inside of the gatefold is also very clean with Absolutely no wear on the flipbacks, again, beautiful and White.

The Spine is clear and legible, showing the credits running down the spine perfectly. There is slight peeling of the Spine but this is only the first layer of laminate.

The top opening area of the Sleeve is also in Excellent condition with only slight wear to edges, please see Shots for visual clarity of the description.

RECORDS

The records are clean with no excessive scratches just a few marks and grade visually as Very Good, very nice. (see Shots)

Both records play very well and must grade audibly Very good +.

Side 1 has some light crackles but no loud clicks and in general plays excellently well at least. There is nice clarity to each song. 8/10

Side 2 plays superb with no major background noise just light crackle in between tracks and in quieter sections of the songs. 8/10

Side 3 sounds typically very good, it does have some background noise on tracks which I would grade 7/10 for clarity.

Mis-pressed Side 4 has no loud crackles just some light surface noise mostly during the quieter tracks for example, Revolution 9 and Good Night. 7/10

This is fantastic and grades Excellent with no tears, stickers, writing, browning or pin holes.

N /Mint - This was originally inserted in all early 1st pressings to prevent damage to the portraits, it really is in fantastic all-round condition.

INNER SLEEEVES

The black inner sleeves are Excellent with only One seam split and very minor tears on the centre window.

LABELS

The dark green apple labels have "Apple records" and "sold in uk" text are fantastic and will be classed as Excellent+  with only light spider marks. There is no sign of “An E.M.I. Recording” on any labels. (see pics). The very rare lower case Mis-press on side 4 “ReVOLUTION 9.”

HISTORY

The Beatles tenth official album release, their FIRST double, and their FIRST on Apple.
The proper name of the album is simply, “The Beatles”, but almost immediately it became known affectionately as “The White Album” due to it’s packaging.
What is true, is that this was the first release by The Beatles which contains purely solo material. In fact, some tracks are even recorded that way, for example, “Julia” was a solo Lennon recording – his first ever.

The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalistic approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on it’s rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly.
Original copies also have a top opening sleeve, and black paper inner sleeves.

As the album that supposedly escalated tensions among the Fab Four (which would lead to there inevitable demise), the White Album stands up as on of there most solid efforts put forth in Abbey Road Studios. Recorded during different stints in 1968, the White Album contains a diverse range of music and contributions from all four Beatles members. The White Album warrants its success not only to the folklore behind the songs that were written, but to the nature in which many of the songs were written. This album was intended to bring the Fab Four back to there basic roots –recording as a rock and roll band. This was a complete turnaround from there previous two recording advertures on Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour. Unfortunately, the tension underlying the group could not be covered up, with many of the band members recording in different studious on there own and some even quiting temporarily only to come back. However, with all the turmoil surrounding. This album, the music still stood up and some would argue improved the “artistic” framework in which they operated. The White Album is the Beatles “coming of age” age album. A contrast between the dventurous and the reserved, the quiet and the loud, the complex and the simple. Such contrasts were expressed through various musical structures – i.e folk, blues, classic rock, pop, and even country. Such music forms take shape through the jangly country walz of “Don’t Pass Me By” to the blues drenched “Yer Blues,” and soft ballads like “Julia.” The White Album has grown with age, only because its diversity and musical craftmenship has it allowed it to. I highly recommend this to any avid music listener.
