Description

BEATLES UK, Sgt Pepper, mis pressed record labels, 1967 UK mono.

PMC 7027, UK black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. a hard to find copy, as the track, ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the record label on side two !. These ‘mis pressed’ record labels were soon spotted by EMI and quickly corrected so only a very small number were printed. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, the track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, maybe it was that fact why the track was left off the label !. The reference to the track was never removed from the sleeve !,

2. unusual for these particular ‘mis pressed’ record labels as on side one there is an additional ‘dot’ within the text, ‘Sold in .U.K.’, etc. Side two of the record label does not have this additional ‘dot !’,

3. side one of the record label has also been ‘mis pressed’, as the ink on the ‘£’ sign is ‘smudged !’,

4. the letters ‘KT’ do not appear embossed onto the record labels !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in very good++ condition, the spine has remained clean and white for its age and has remained solid, there is some slight ‘rubbing’ and some slight laminate loss to the centre of the spine so not all of the text on the spine is readable. The four opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean for their age. When the ‘gate fold’ sleeve is opened the two top ‘flip backs’, ie ‘fold over’ edges can be seen. When the ‘gate fold’ sleeve is opened it is super clean and glossy inside. There are NO tears or splits to the sleeve. To the front, top right, there is a small area of laminate and colour loss. On the rear, top left there is a small name written in black pen.

THE INSERT: is in excellent condition and is the original DARK green card insert. There are NO tears, creases, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the insert.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original plain white, period EMI, ‘Patent No. 1,125,555’ inner sleeve. The inner sleeve is made from the period quality grade paper with a ‘textured surface’ to the inside. Theres NO pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a 10mm tear to the front, right opening edge and some slight age related marks each side.

THE RECORD: side one is in near very good condition. Side two is in good++ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘6 MMO’ and ‘7 MAT’,

THE AUDIO: each side plays good++, it plays with ‘ticks’ and ‘crackle’. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in very good+ condition. The record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
