Description
BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper, mis pressed label, original UK mono.
PMC 7027 – black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A UK album in original condition, featuring:
1. a hard to find mis pressed copy, only printed in a very small number, as the record label on side two, the track ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, the track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, maybe it was that fact why the track was left off the label !. The reference to the track was never removed from the sleeve, so that theory seems unlikely,
2. unusual for these labels, there is an additional ‘dot’ printed within the ‘Sold in UK’ etc text on side one, as it reads ‘Sold in .U.K.’ etc.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the original UK mono ‘flip back’ gate fold sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in very good++ condition, a very good, strong solid spine that has remained clean for its age, there is some slight laminate ‘scuffs’ but ‘most’ of the text on the spine is readable. The four opening edges of the sleeve have remained very clean. Theres NO pen writing, tears, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INSERT: is in near MINT condition. An excellent well preserved insert. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the insert.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original period plain white EMI sleeve with squarer corners and the text ‘Patent applied for’. The two opening edges have remained very clean. An excellent clean, white sleeve for its age. The sleeve is made from the period, quality heavy grade paper and has a textured surface inside. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges.
THE RECORD: side one is in excellent+ condition, side two is in excellent condition.
The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy and does not look as if it has been played very much.
The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘6 MMO’ and ‘ 7 MHT ’.
THE AUDIO: plays excellent++, it plays with excellent quiet grooves, an excellent playing copy. The record plays with a loud clear, full period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
