Description

BEATLES UK – Revolver, rare E J Day stereo sleeve.

1966 PCS 7009 – original 1966 first UK issue black and yellow Parlophone labels.

An original 1966 first UK Stereo copy in original condition, with a very hard to find Stereo ‘flip back’ sleeve made by E J Day, featuring:

1. a near impossible to find UK Stereo ‘flip back’ sleeve made by E J Day. Far less stereo copies of Beatles records were ordered during the mid 1960s, that fact together with the fact that the company of ‘E J Day’ went through management changes throughout 1965, so this meant that stereo ‘E J Day’ Beatle album sleeves were very hard to find. So while it is not uncommon to find mono Revolver E J Day sleeves, a UK Stereo ‘flip back’ E J Day, Revolver sleeve hardly ever comes up for sale.

2. the record label on side two has the spelling of ‘Doctor’, but on the rear of the sleeve this track is spelt as ‘Dr’, for the track ‘Doctor Robert’. Apparently this was at the insistence of John Lennon. The spelling on the rear of the sleeve was never corrected to the ‘Doctor’ spelling !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. This laminate is relatively free from much ‘scuffing’ and ‘indentations’. The spine is in very good++ condition and has remained very clean and all the text is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original 1960s ‘tri’ flip back design. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. The is some old sellotape residue on the two opening edges and a small white sticker on the rear, top right of the sleeve. A very good, solid example of such a RARE sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original period 1966 EMI ‘Patents applied for’ inner sleeve. The sleeve is made from the period quality heavy grade paper and the inside of the inner sleeve has a textured surface. A well preserved, clean crease free inner sleeve for its age. There are NO tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. A name and address has been written in one corner in blue pen and there is a slight split to one of the side edges and there is some light age related marks to the top front, opening edge.

THE RECORD: is in near very good condition. It is made of the period, 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are: YEX 605 - 1 and YEX 606 – 1,

The mother/stampers are: ‘ 2 0A ’ and ‘2 AA’,

THE AUDIO: is near very good, it plays with a ‘fair’ amount of ‘crackle’ but it still sounds good, it plays with a loud, full period stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in very good condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, sticker residue or stickers.
