MEGA RARE!

BEATLES

STRAWBERRY FIELDS/PENNY LANE

TEST PRESSING?

7"

( 33 1/3 on label but plays 45)

ON OFFER HERE IS A HUGELY RARE BEATLES TEST PRESSING.

ONLY A HAND FULL OF THESE WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AND WERE NOT DESTINED FOR RESALE SO I DOUBT MANY IF ANY OTHERS SURVIVED?

MAKING THIS A HUGELY RARE BEATLES SINGLE ,IF NOT ONE OF THE RAREST!

THIS IS A RARE CHANCE TO PICK UP SUCH A COLLECTORS ITEM.

IT IS BEING LISTED WITHOUT A RESERVE FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IS A REASONABLE IF NOT SILLY START PRICE FOR SUCH A RARE SINGLE!

THE RECORD ITSELF WOULD HAVE BEEN PRESSED IN HOUSE FOR INTERNAL

LISTENING  BEFORE RELEASE .

ACORDING TO MY RESEARCH AND WHAT SEVERAL EXPERTS HAVE TOLD ME THEY WOULD QUITE OFTEN LABEL UP TEST PRESSINGS WITH ODD LABELS AND THEN HAND WRITE THE SONG/ARTIST ON THE LABEL.

I HAVE GIVEN A FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE RECORD BELOW AND INCLUDED A FEW LINKS TO RELATED SITES

!THANKS!

.

The label is correct for its time of release and matches up with other similar recordings from that year(see link below)

http://www.popsike.com/UK-Beatles-EXPORT-LP-1969-PPCS-Yellow-Submarine-ODEON/270234492846.html

this link shows all the demo labels and that this one is listed as existance unconfirmed and the change of label on all later demos http://www.beatlescollecting.co.uk/demosingles.html

.

The  record itself is an old odeon  single labeled as a 33 1/3 but actualy plays at 45?,black label with no apparent markings on ? on closer inspection it has hand written on it in pen so it is hard to make out against the black label but it says "beatles strawberry fields 1966" on one side and handwritten again on other side "not for resale copyright" on the other. i have checked the matrix numbers stamped on the record are "7xce18415- 1" and “7xce18416-2” these match with strawberry fields?  There are no other apparent markings on the disc apart from on one side a bit further round from the matrix is what looks like “grg “ stamped.

This is a very strange and rare single as it does not seem to be listed anywere in this particular format? It is on the Odeon label which is the label beatles export singles were released on .

I have been in touch with both Bonhams and Christies the world famous auctioneers about this particular record.Neither of them can find any record of any such single coming up for auction nor can they find out any further information on the single?. I have also contacted many dealers/collectors who all tell me the same thing that it must be very rare as they have never come accross such a record? All they can tell me is that it is  very rare and almost definately a  test pressing?

Its former owner was  a fairly well known dj and musician in liverpool who lived and worked in liverpool around the time of the records release, and had a strong conection to the pub/club/music scene . The record itself was kept among other demos from various artists including the beatles and i had over looked it untill i inspected it closer recently?Unfortunately he is now dead and so is unable to shed any light on its origins?

As so many experts have been baffled by this record i can only assume it is either a 1off or just about as rare as you can get?

I would love to be able to tell you more about this record but i have listed everything i know about it.

If anybody could shed any light on the on its origins or has any info on this record i would love to here from you and be very gratefull.

If you would like to ask any questions or have any info on the record feel free to message me anytime and i will get back to you asap.

I am a genuine uk ebayer with good feedback .

POSTAGE/INSURANCE TO BE AGREED AND PAID BEFORE DISPATCH!

THANKS FOR LOOKING! : )
