Another from my personal collection of over 1000 UK Beatles Albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years or more! Here on offer is an original 1st UK mono pressing totally complete with the original red and white fools record sleeve and cut outs! I have play tested the vinyl prior to this listing at very loud volume on a top system importantly using a dedicated Mono cartridge. I have also recorded the complete album for you to hear for your self in the player below! This copy plays through without any signs of distortion or that it has been over played what so ever! Cristal clear and very vibrant stunning Mono audio throughout!
Please note! There is light general wear and tear with age on the cover and record sleeve in the form of light creases but overall graded at excellent every thing is original and in general is very clean for a 48 year old album!
The audio is absolutely stunning through out. There are No loud constant clicks or pops heard during the audio, any static is isolated only and not consistent through out the audio!  A nice collectable and  playable copy to have and own! At least excellent plus to Very Near Mint Audio on my systems in my opinion!

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Released on 1 June 1967, it was an immediate commercial and critical success, spending 22 weeks at the top of the albums chart in the United Kingdom and 15 weeks at number one in the United States. Time magazine declared it "a historic departure in the progress of music" and the New Statesman praised its elevation of pop to the level of fine art. It won four Grammy Awards in 1968, including Album of the Year, the first rock LP to receive this honour.





In August 1966, the Beatles permanently retired from touring and began a three-month holiday from recording. During a return flight to London in November, Paul McCartney had an idea for a song involving an Edwardian era military band that would eventually form the impetus of the Sgt. Pepper concept. Sessions for the Beatles' eighth studio album began on 24 November in Abbey Road Studio Two, with the original intention to record an album of material that was to be thematically linked to their childhoods. Among the first tracks recorded for the project were "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane", but after pressure from EMI the songs were released as a double A-side single; they were not included on the album.






In February 1967, after recording "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", McCartney suggested that the Beatles should release an entire album that would represent a performance by the fictional Sgt. Pepper band. This alter ego group would give them the freedom to experiment musically. During the recording sessions, the band endeavoured to improve upon the production quality of their prior releases. Knowing they would not have to perform the tracks live, they adopted an experimental approach to composition, writing songs such as "With a Little Help from My Friends", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "A Day in the Life". The producer George Martin's innovative recording of the album included the liberal application of sound shaping signal processing and the use of a 40-piece orchestra performing aleatoric crescendos. Recording was completed on 21 April 1967. The cover, depicting the band posing in front of a tableau of celebrities and historical figures, was designed by the English pop artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth based on a sketch by McCartney.





Sgt. Pepper is regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the use of extended form in popular music while continuing the artistic maturation seen on the Beatles' preceding releases. It has been described as one of the first art rock LPs, aiding the development of progressive rock, and credited with marking the beginning of the Album Era. An important work of British psychedelia, the multigenre album incorporates diverse stylistic influences, including vaudeville, circus, music hall, avant-garde, and Western and Indian classical music. In 2003 the Library of Congress placed Sgt. Pepper in the National Recording Registry, honouring the work as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". That same year Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number one in its list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".





As of 2014 it has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. Professor Kevin J Dettmar, writing in the Oxford Encyclopedia of British Literature, described it as "the most important and influential rock and roll album ever recorded".





Sgt. Pepper was recorded using four-track equipment. Although eight-track tape recorders were available in the US, the first units were not operational in commercial studios in London until late 1967.





As with previous Beatles albums, the Sgt. Pepper recordings made extensive use of the technique known as reduction mixing, in which one to four tracks from one recorder are mixed and dubbed down onto a master four-track machine, enabling the Abbey Road engineers to give the group a virtual multitrack studio.





EMI's Studer J37 four-track machines were well suited to reduction mixing, as the high quality of the recordings that they produced minimised the increased noise associated with the process. Preferring to overdub his bass part last, McCartney tended to play other instruments when recording a song's backing track.






This approach afforded him the extra time required to write and record melodic basslines that complemented the song's final arrangement. He also performed most of the album's lead guitar work. When recording the orchestra for "A Day in the Life", Martin synchronised a four-track recorder playing the Beatles' backing track to another one taping the orchestral overdub.





The engineer Ken Townsend devised a method for accomplishing this by using a 50 Hz control signal between the two machines.

The Vinyl

This is the original thicker , (Very important), heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)! The vinyls playing surface is lovely and very clean indeed!

The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new in my opinion on initial inspection this looks like it has obviously been played  but certainly not been over played in my opinion, On initial inspection of the playing surface this looks nice and very clean and I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled to the light would be sleeve removal type/scuffs/scratches only, but importantly nothing that caused any nasty constant loud clicks or pops. Unbelievably rare to find like this!  There are no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops that I heard at all!

The audio quality

I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing on a top system, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge. From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has only had very minimal play only in my opinion! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on earliest Mono pressings!   I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint for the most part in my opinion!

Unbelievably rare to ever find like this.

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for minor isolated static/crackle tick or minor background , and nothing consistant through out the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 48 year old record that would have originally been played on a 48 year old system.

A constant clean before each play is highly recommended. This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 40 years. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle/ticks. A clean before each play reduces static/crackle and will enhance the audio quality.

The Labels

These are the original and earliest Yellow and Black Parlophone labels feature   ''The Parlophone Co...'' rim text (only 1st press ) Sold In The UK...." text across the labels (Only 1st Press) K.T. Tax code stamped on side 1 (Correct for this pressing) The labels are very clean ! all text is fully readable. It is obvious to me that this vinyl has only has had minimal play only in my opinion. Spidering can be seen around the spindle hole when angled to the light but little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Red /White Fools record sleeve no splits or tares just light fading/browning/creasing with age becoming fragile. The vinyl is now always stored separately from the sleeve. This is how I have always stored my records. Feature 'Patents Applied For' and 'Made In Great Britain"  The original!

The Cover

This is the original Garrod & Lofthouse Fully Laminated internal flipback gate fold cover. Lovely rich and vibrant in color (some are very insipid ) The cover is super glossy in appearance and is nice and clean with no names written on it. There are no nasty creases on the front, just minor thumb creases and minor lines at the spine edges to mention and not noticed unless looked for in my opinion.  The rear is exceptionally clean and vibrant. There is a small corner crease/bumping and some laminate lift at the bottom left and again lines at the spine edge to mention. and again nothing too bad at all! There are no edge splits or tears all text is legible! I would grade this cover at least excellent in my opinion.

The Cut outs

This album is complete with the original cutouts never been used Clean and straight as it should be!
