A very good+ (bordering on excellent) copy of this 1967 iconic record made all the more scarce and sought after by

 the 2nd side label omission of "A DAY IN THE LIFE"

Both sides of the vinyl (completely flat, by the way) have retained much of their original sheen and have a great appearance. Looking closely under a halogen right, and tilted at the right angle, there are a number of wispy hairlines in evidence, however, but I suspect that these are just paper scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. On side 1 there are two small pencil line, non-feelable, and strictly surface only "scratches" which are slightly more obvious than the wispy hairlines. But even for these you have to look hard to identify them and neither adversely affect play at all. Truly impressive appearance condition even though the record has been frequently played.

The laminated Garrod & Lofthouse outer gatefold sleeve is in very good++ condition (I'm tempted to grade as "excellent"), with original, vibrant colouring fully intact. The top and bottom edges are unmarked, uncreased and rigid. The spine comes across as being "slightly flattened" through storage but remains in excellent condition, with all writing perfectly legible. There is a small 1cm diagonal crease right at the top left of the front side adjacent to the spine, and on closer inspection I have detected three x4 1.5 cm horizontal laminate creases each adjacent to and perpendicular to the spine. You will need to look hard to spot them. Similarly there are 6 such creases on the reverse side - again, you'll need to look hard and really nothing to peak of. Apart from that the reverse side is truly excellent with no blemishes at all. The front side opening edge shows a hint of usage but I'm being picky here. The hairs on the back of my neck still stand up on end when I open up the gatefold and this copy is no exception. The flipbacks are in super condition and there is a little creasing along the inner spine, but again I'm being picky here...basically the inside of the gatefold is near perfect. 

 The quality of the audio is excellent. No skips (obviously), no "pops", no "clicks". Occasionally there is the merest hint of a little, very mild background crackle but this is negligible. Just listen and enjoy - timeless songs and great audio throughout.

 Each label is excellent. Look closely under a bright light and a couple of very light spindle trails adjacent to the spindle can be detected on each label, but basically that's it.

The famed cardboard cut-out is perfect, appearing to have been unused.

Just check how many times this version of Sgt. Peppers comes up for sale on ebay - hardly ever.)

Comes complete with white "PATENT APPLIED FOR" inner sleeve - fully functional with no splits or tears - excellent.

I am sure that most sellers would grade this copy as "excellent" but I'll go with a definite "very good+".

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit, and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon postal insurance so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Richard

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
