Well, this is it folks. This is my last week of selling the big stuff on eBay! It's been a great 6 months and I hope there have been gaps in your collection that have now been filled. This week is my final push of some of the best records and memorabilia I have! Thank you all so much for following me!

Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for a copy of the Beatles legendary LP ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’. This is the exceptionally rare mono press with the one-box silver on black labels!!

In 1969 two big things happened with Parlophone. Firstly, they changed their label design from the yellow on black design to the silver on black and the other was that mono was completely dropped, the reason was that by 1969 mono was a completely dead format. As stereo record players became much more affordable and the price of stereo records came down to match their mono counterparts the mono presses were very quickly forgotten about and demand for them quickly fell to near zero. So much so that, as I say, the format was completely dropped and the mono back catalogue became unavailable.

It’s thought that the mono format was dropped just before the new label change came into effect. However, it appears that an absolutely tiny run of mono presses were made of Sgt. Pepper with the new style silver label before this happened, making the mono silver on blacks an instant mega rarity even back in 1969! Fast forward 45 years and these have now become near-impossible to find!

But the best thing about this copy is the condition. This is an absolutely beautiful pressing of this extremely rare record and one that I’d imagine you’d have a very hard time trying to surpass!

Comes complete with its original dark green insert and plain white 'patents pending' inner!!

The cover is looking really, really good for its age, with just a little very light wear and tear in one or two places. The front cover has a beautiful rich colour to it and the laminate is still predominantly clean! There's just a very light disc impression and a few little creases around the outer edges. The cotners are looking really nice with just a very little amount of rounding. The top seam on the front side is holding tight with no splits, tears or wear. The back side, however, has a small patch of wear in the middle. It's not a split as I can't see any light shining through with I look in the sleeve, but it is looking a little fragile. This small patch of wear measures approximately 1 inch across. Bottom seams are absolutely perfect with no wear or splits of any kind. The spine has a little roughing at the bottom but, overall, has not split and is still fully legible. The back is a beautiful red colour and there's just a light build up of dirt on the laminate showing a light disc impression. Like the front there's a little light creasing around the edges. The cover still crackles as you open the gatefold, and the inside is just exceptional. Beautiful, rich colours. A stunning clean laminate and no creasing or anything to be seen. A plain white Patents inner sleeve is included. I'm not sure if this is original to the album, but since this is how I obtained it I'm including it. The bottom left has 'Patent Nos. 11 2 55 55 / 10 7 28 44 and the bottom right has 'Made in Great britain'. There's a very light, minimal disc impression, barely any creasing and some light wear around the mouth opening, but this is really minimal. There's a few little light brown stain spots at the bottom on both sides. The side and bottom seams are all holding tightly with no wear, splits or tearing. Nice inner!

The original, dark green insert (later ones were light green) is included and is looking exceptional! Beautiful, rich colours, no creasing and no tears or wear. The back is still a stark gret colour with no real hints that I can see of browning or anything. Awesome!

The playing surface has a wonderfully crisp shine to it and just a few little, light, barely visible scuffs in a couple of places that I can only really just see under my desk lamp. The centre hole still has the centre-hole flash in place which just goes to show how little this disc must have been played! Awesome pressing!!!

Labels : NM-

The labels are clean with wonderfully bright silver text. Both labels are free from any kind of writing, stickers, wear etc and just have the lightest little spindlemarks that're hard to see. Both labels jave just a hint of whitening around the centrehole. The centrehole still has the centre-hole flash in place which shows just how little this disc must have been played in its life!
