RARE 3rd PRESS STEREO UK LP

This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker, New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

So, this record I have for sale here:

Rare original UK 3rd press Stereo on the Parlophone Yellow & Black label. This was the first stereo pressing to be made on the Yellow & Black label, the previous two stereo pressings being on the Black and Gold label. One of the rarest Please Please Me UK pressings. It has No "Sold in the UK...." or "Recording first published..." text. Has "The Parlophone Co Ltd" text in upper case. Comes housed in the Ernest J Day front laminated sleeve with square flipbacks, large "Stereo" & Angus McBean credit. This sleeve is very early & was also used for Black and Gold copies. Both sleeve & record are in vg/ex- condition, an very acceptable copy for this album with really nice playback, but obviously nor for the Mint collectors.

***WOW*** ONE OF THE FIRST 300 OFF THE PRESS!!!

Vinyl: EX-. There just a handful of light marks to the record, but nothing to affect the playback-sounds superb!. Nice, heavy vinyl without jumps and skips. Having listened to sections of her, I noticed some background pops towards the end of track 3 and into track 4 on side two..I am being rrather critical...Please see my feedback.

The Beatles in all their original glory. Even the run-ins are lovely and quiet...a professional clean and you've got yourself a wonderful copy!

Glorious sheen and flat Flat FLAT!

Labels: VG+. There are spindle marks, visible when angled towards the light. Some hole wear evident too. The labels stand out beautifully-lovely and clean, with no writing at all. Outer rim text starts with "The Parlophone Co.Ltd"

Cover: VG. It is a genuine Ernest J.Day & Co cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front. The same ones used for the famous Black and Gold pressings.

LARGE STEREO in the top right corner.

Still solid! Strong spine. Quite a few areas of spidering to the laminate and two small 1cm seam splits to two of the corners.Good Ernest J Day flipbacks, with the bottom one of the three having 6cm loss of laminate as well as 4cm of loss of flipback to the bottom right corner on the back. Certainly NOT trashed.

***A good SOLID example of a rare cover***

Inner: It is a genuine "Use Emitex" inner. In very good condition with just creases. It has certainly done it's job in keeping the record in superb condition.
