BEATLES Please Please Me GOLD LABEL Dick James Error 1ST UK PRESS 1N Mono 1/GR 1/T mother/stampers

The Beatles “Please Please Me" 1st UK Press Mono Vinyl LP

Description:

1st press 'Gold' label Beatles - Please Please Me in its original 'Gold' 1st version sleeve - with all Dick James label credit errors on both sides - proving its status as a very 1st press, also with lowest mothers (1st on both sides) and very low stampers (single character side 2) making this one of the earliest discs to come of the press back in March 1963!

Key Features:

  • Matrix: Side 1: XEX 421-1N; Side 2: XEX 422-1N.
  • Labels: The first pressing has a black label with gold print and “Parlophone Co. Ltd” printed at the start perimeter print. “Dick James Mus. Co” incorrect publishing credit for “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Misery”, “Do You Want To Know A Secret” & “There’s A Place”. With or without tax code and with 33 1/3 on the label.
  • Sleeve: The first pressing ‘Gold’ sleeve is an Ernest J.Day & Co. front laminated cover, with large “mono“ on front. The photo credit for the front cover: “Photo Angus McBean” is printed in the lower right corner. The text starts at the end of “s” in “songs”.
  • Inner: Polythene-lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve.
  • Stampers: 1GR & 1T (1st Mother both sides, single digit stamper on side 2)
  • Tax Code: KT tax code

Visual Grade: VERY GOOD PLUS!

Glossy and clean disc with some light surface marks visible under strong direct halogen spotlight. Nothing feel-able and the disc sits completely flat on the turntable with no warping or dishing.

Audio Grade: VERY GOOD PLUS!

It sounds fantastic, great channel separation, crisp vocals and punchy bass from the famous deep-cut early Parlophone pressings. Light background crackle at the lead-ins which subsides once the tracks start. Quiet between tracks. No repeat loud obtrusive pops, no repeat clicks and obviously no skips or sticks with this grade.

Sleeve: VERY GOOD PLUS!

The laminate front retains its original glossy sheen without ring wear, some handling/storage wear, fully readable spine without wear, no splits and no stains.

Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT

The original poly-lined EMITEX inner sleeve is in excellent condition, clean and without any splits.
