On offer here is one of the CROWN JEWELS of any Australian BEATLES collection.  This ULTRA RARE BLACK & GOLD PARLOPHONE LABEL version of THE BEATLES debut album is an ORIGINAL FIRST AUSTRALIAN MONO ISSUE released in October 1963.  “MADE IN AUSTRALIA FOR THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD. SYDNEY, N.S.W.” appears at the bottom rim of each record label.

Cover:

VG- moderate handling wear with light ring-wear (more noticeable on back), creasing & spot staining.  90mm seam split along spine (centre), 15mm seam split from opening edge (top), surface tear along opening edge (front centre – 12mm x 15mm).  Ownership tag written by former owner (back top-left to centre), original price ‘52/6’ written in pencil—very hard to see (back top-right).  Examine digital pics closely.

NB: The slight variations in shade on the digital pics have been caused from joining scanned images together.  This method provides a more accurate representation of the front and back cover.  I could not possibly provide this same amount of detail with photos taken from my digital camera!

Record:

visual: VG still retains good lustre despite some scuffs and surface scratches, which are ALL SUPERFICIAL.  The scratch that can be seen on the side 1 record label is only on the run-off groove, and does not affect the playing surface.  QUALITY THICK VINYL PRESSING - GOOD LUCK TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER COPY!

audible: VG played from beginning to end—quite acceptable despite some underlying surface noise.  DEFINITELY NO SKIPS OR JUMPS!

labels: heavy spindle wear (more noticeable on side 2—side 1 has been played more!).  Examine digital pics closely.
