You are bidding on the following item. This is an original UK MONO issue of the BEATLES LP “Please Please Me” from 1963.Cat. No. PMC 1202 (1963).
Matrix Nos: XEX 421-1N & 1 GP and XEX 422-1N & 1 2 GM.
The labels have very clean Black & Gold printing with just a hint of spindle wear. There is a small ridge on the label about 14mm out from the centre hole on either side. An MT tax code is impressed into the side two label with one letter either side of the spindle hole.
Publishing credits are for Northern Songs Ltd. where appropriate, instead of Dick James Music, so this is the second version label which according to several experts is every bit as hard to find as the very first due to the fact that it was only in this changed format with the old tax code for a short period of time. The MT code means that the record was manufactured before the second half of 1963.
It has a front-laminated Ernest J. Day flip back sleeve. The Angus McBean photo credit is at the bottom of the cover and aligns with the “s” in the word songs. The record comes complete with a Patents Applied For poly-lined Emitex inner.

CONDITION:
Cover – VG -. This has definitely had a fair life. The laminate is clean and the colours are bright. The spine is intact and easy to read even though it has a couple of tiny nicks. The corners are slightly rounded and the flaps have a couple of light creases and tears. The back shows signs of light grubbiness from age and use. This is intact but used not sure what else to say. (See scans).
Record – VG. The record surface is quite clean but there are numerous light scuffs and hairlines. Even so, it plays through amazingly well with a full, bright and clear sound but there is some background noise and a few clicks in the quieter parts. The labels are totally clean.
