THE BEATLES **PLEASE PLEASE ME** Original 1963 UK Parlophone PMC 1202 Mono LP

Here is a First Issue Yellow/Black label variation of the Please Please Me LP , unbelievably still not mentioned in the UK Record Collector Rare Record Guide 2008 ........................ After the initial runs of the Gold/Black label Please Please Me LP in early 1963 , Parlophone decided on a 'new look' label design - i.e. Yellow and Black........The initial runs of the 'new look' label design used the same type set as the Gold/Black label for the lower half of the labels, which omitted the 'Recording First Published 1963' print - to the left of the label but still included the small 33 1/3rd print to the right of the matrix number (see photo)............. This anomaly was noticed , and the small 33 1/3rd print removed from the type set ( the 33 1/3rd was already in large print - above the Parlophone logo - see photo ) .......... subsequent labels were produced (omitting both 'Recording First Published 1963' and omitting the small 33 1/3rd ) This variation is still listed as the first Yellow/Black labels in RC Guide - but incorrect.... )

Very few copies of this First Issue Yellow/Black label which contain the small 33 1/3rd print rarely surface...........due to the very small amount of labels produced.........

I have also noticed that on all the copies of this first Y/B label variation LP over the years that I have handled , nearly all have the sleeve anomaly of the large MONO print being to the extreme edge of the sleeve opening - not a sleeve manufacture trimming error , but actually printed further along from the Please Please Me* The Beatles print on the sleeve top border.............interesting stuff!!!

George Harrison (vocals, guitar); John Lennon (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Paul McCartney (vocals, bass); Ringo Starr (vocals, drums). Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England. "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" were recorded in September 1962. The other 12 tracks were recorded on February 11, 1963 ("Twist And Shout" was the last song to be recorded). Includes liner notes by Tony Barrow. Recorded in between a cup of tea and a cigarette, this album is raw yet dazzling. Here were four lads, highly experienced on stage, but with little or no idea of what a recording studio was like.They were subtly marshalled by the much-respected George Martin to deliver an entire album that was exactly what the fans wanted, but was still a surprise. Things were never as simple as this again, yet the genius is there. Examples are Lennon's unmatchable rasping on "Twist And Shout," McCartney's graceful ease in singing "I Saw Her Standing There," Harrison's sparse but definite Gretsch chords, and Starr's ace vocal on "Boys."

Condition of Vinyl:- Both sides of the disc have very light signs of use only ............ just a few very faint , very light surfce traces evident beneath a light (very light!) The album plays through with fantastic sound quality , minimal between track surface presence : Easily Graded at EXCELLENT condition.

Label Condition:- Bright clean labels , no wear....... just a little spindle use : EXCELLENT condition.

Condition of Sleeve:- Ernest J Day flipover Sleeve

Front: Bright , crisp and clean ......... Very light use only ............ No creasing ...... minor edge rub , great spine ....... Light corner taps : Graded at almost EXCELLENT condition.

Rear: Light ageing only .......... Nice and clean ............ No flip wear , aside from some corner wrinkle on the 45 degree angles : Graded at almost EXCELLENT condition.

Awsome!!, padded out with grossly long winded descriptions , many of the 'experts' who use this method of selling also add technical information , which is totally unfounded and incorrect to actual facts , and would be laughable , but for the fact that it is misleading........ I take time and care to grade items correctly and only list quality records, with concise and accurate grading descriptions......................

I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest!) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists live too (I saw The Beatles twice........and Segovia!)
