Description

The Beatles. Please Please me. EMI. First UK cassette release 1970. Stereo.
The Beatles first LP, `Please Please Me` was not released in musicassette form until October 1970. Production of this, and other cassettes at the time were quite limited by EMI as they were not sure how popular they would become so, hence, relatively few original cassettes were manufactured and sold.
This is an example of one of these rare and collectable cassettes.
These original Beatles cassettes had white inlays that featured a small reproduction of the LP front cover. Tracklistings were printed on the reverse of the inlay and the foldovers advertised other available Beatles/solo cassettes. They feature a circular 1&7/8th ips logo on the inlay spine. The cassette inlays changed to all-gold colour in 1972.
The cassette shell labels are yellow in colour but in certain light look lime green and, as is usually the case with paper labels, there is some `bubbling` (see pics). This is one of the cassettes that was produced without the EMI/Parlophone logo on the paper label which means it is a very early copy of this cassette as they later had this logo added.
The tape plays perfectly and the cassette and inlay are in generally good condition besides the `bubbling` to the paper labels.
I am putting this rare, collectable Beatles cassette up for auction with a reasonable starting price and will sell to the highest bidder. Please do not ask for a `buy-it-now` price.
Thanks for looking and good luck.
