Original 1st pressing Apple Records "The Beatles 1962-1966" RED ALBUM Greatest Hits double LP (Gatefold) set. Spizer version APP 3403.SR1(af)c (Jacksonville, IL pressing).  This is the original cover with the light green Apple Records logo on the upper rear of the cover (later pressings have the later Capitol Records logo and a UPC bar code.).  Overall, a very nice package in great condition. Additional info including grades is below.

I use the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent (and, due to this, are graded slightly lower) than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record.  I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.

Records - NM-/VG++
One of the LPs grades as a NM- (near mint minus) and the other has a minor jacket rub from removing the record from the dust jacket.. due to this mark, I would grade as a VG++.  Otherwise, the LPs are both very clean. The original folders are included which the song lyrics.

No writing, tears, etc. on the labels.

Also included is the paper insert that Apple (Capitol) included between the gatefold containing the list of songs (and their respective original LPs) on one side. The other side lists the various Capitol/Apple Beatles LPs and Singles by catalog number. This extra insert is sort of rare in itself as it was often thrown away or lost once the original buyer torn open the shrink and opened the gatefold cover. 

This LP, and the 1967-1970 sister set, were created by Apple and Capitol in 1973 due to various bootleg 'greatest hit' collections popping up and being sold widely on TV and in stores for $14 without any authorization/licensing from the Beatles, Northern Songs, Maclen Music, Apple, EMI, or Capitol. That explains the wording on the paper insert.

Cover - VG++
The cover shows some very minor dots of color loss along the top/bottom edges which is very common with LP covers with bright colors. A few very minor corner bumps, too.  Very slight rub on the cover's front below "The Beatles/1962-1966".  No writing, mold, water, etc. on the cover. The cover is just a tick below NM- (some collectors would possibly grade it NM-, however, I grade conservatively so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.)

I would have included more photos, but eBay limits the number of photos for a listing.

LP will be shipped promptly in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection; I ship the vinyl outside of the cover in order to protect the cover during shipment.  Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end.  Great piece of rock and roll history!  Please see my other Beatles items for sale.
