Another from my personal collection of beatles records one of many UK Beatles records that I have acumilated of the past 35 years or more! This being the original UK  Mono issued in 1967 Unbeleivable to find in this awesome condition after 42 years! The audio is truly stunning throughout cristal lear and vibrant amaizing to find. This is also complete and fully intact with the original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover with booklet the earliest to be released with the original blue lyric sheets inside! (only found on the earliest Uk pressings) A realy lovely collectable item for any avid Beatles collector! Highly collectable and sought after in this condition!!!. 

Magical Mystery Tour is the name of the 6-song double EP and 11-song album by the English rock band The Beatles, first released in late 1967. It is the soundtrack to a one-hour television film that was originally aired, in black and white, in the UK in 1967. Initially released as a double EP in the UK, the recording was expanded to a full album on subsequent U.S. release, adding several recent singles to the B-side. This has since been adopted by Apple and EMI when the Beatles' discography was being put on Compact Disc, and is the only US release of theirs to do so!!!.

While the songs on the EP proved popular, critical and popular response to the television film proved negative. Plans to air it on ABC television in the U.S. were cancelled, and Magical Mystery Tour was first shown in the United States only in a special showing as a fundraiser for the Liberation News Service in 1968. This was held at the Fillmore East in New York City. There was no other showing in the U.S. until 1974, as a theatrical release on the midnight movies and college circuits, both of which were mainly underground!!!.

After Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Paul McCartney wanted to create a film based upon the Beatles and their music. The film was to be unscripted: various "ordinary" people (including John Lennon's uncle Charlie) were to travel on a charabanc bus and have unspecified "magical" adventures, in the manner of Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters.

The Magical Mystery Tour movie was made, but the hoped-for "magical" adventures never happened. During the filming, an ever greater number of cars followed the hand-lettered bus, hoping to see what its passengers were up to, until a running traffic jam developed. The spectacle ended after Lennon angrily tore the lettering off the sides of the bus!.

Magical Mystery Tour was the first Beatles film project following the death of manager Brian Epstein in August 1967, and there has been much speculation that the absence of Epstein's judgement contributed to its undisciplined production, as seen, for instance, in the absence of a screenplay and professional direction. The film originally appeared twice on BBC-TV over the 1967 Christmas holidays (primarily in black and white), but was savaged by critics on its release; it was, however, noted by Steven Spielberg in film school (according to McCartney in one of the interviews for The Beatles Anthology: "I've read that people like him have sort of said, 'When I was in school that was a film we really took notice of...' like an art film, you know, rather than a proper film.)!!

The Vinyls

Both vinyls lay perfectly flat on the turntable and retain their original sheen from new. It is quite obvious on inspetion that these have had only very minimal play only. On close inspection looking under a strong light I can just see very minimal surface marks mainly very light odd whispy scuff and only the odd very very light suface scratch but nothing that would produce any clicks or interfearance with the audio quality at all! visually graded at least excellent to excellent plus.

The Audio

I have played all four sides track for track on a top system at very loud volume! Please note!, that I have very carefully listened to every second of this E.P. The audio is truly superbe throughout! Absolutely stunning top mono audio quality! There is absolutely (no) clicks or pops and definately (no) distortion or any signs that this has been overplayed what so ever! (which is so often found on these 42 year old Beatles records!!! It is obvious to me that this has been well looked after! The amaizing thing is that any static crackle\ticks are barely evident at all (This also is so common on these originals) Any static ticks I could only hear that were just barely evedent at the end of side 3 flying on to the run off grooves but i must emphisise (no) loud clicks or pops at all! Very rare to find like this! An overall grade for these vinyls audio quality would be at least excellent plus to very near perfect on at l.east three of the sides even in between tracks (no) surface noise was evident a truly awesome collectable! In my opinion compared to the Stereo version of this E.P. My personal preference will always be this mono version. Please do not underestemat the rarety to find these earliest pressings like this! Please note ! My main concern has alays been the audio quality when buying records over the past 35 years or more, I would class myself as highly critical when it comes down to the audio quality  and always try to give my honest opinion  when describing this. Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you ill see that i normally get it right!!!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd very (very) light static\tick (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that these vinyls are genuine 42 years old and would have originally been played on a 42 year old system.  I heard no loud clicks or pops and certainly no distortion at all through out!!

The labels

These are the original Parlophone labels in absolutely awesome condition! Feature ''Sold in the UK.....'' (only 1st press) also feature ''The Gramophone co......'' around the labels rims (only 1st UK press) little if (no) spindle ware evident at all (the hole is perfectly round on both vinyls) Any sipering that may be evident when scrutinised angled under a light is very veru minimal it is obvious to me that these have barely been played at all!,, at least had very minimal play for 42 years old , quite unbeleivable! There are no nasty names or marks evident!

These are the original plain white sleeves in superbe condition with no splits or tares evident just light creasings.

The cover

This is the original 1st UK released Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd laminated cover complete with booklet (All pages intact and perfect) Very importantly no grubbyness or foxing with age at all! Please note! features the original light blue lyric sheets (only found on original 1st pressings) later press are white only! Also importantly this features the correct catalogue number at the rear ''MMT-1 (MONO) (ONLY 1ST PRESS) The laminate is perfect no creases or nasty marks\names what so ever! perfect spine (no) crushing or creasing at all  This cover and booklet is graded as Near Mint! Absolutely perfect!!!  Absolutely unbeleivable to ever find!!!
