BEATLES LP ABBEY ROAD stereo APPLE PCS 7088 1st Press EX/EX- cond.
On offer is a THE BEATLES LP entitled ABBEY ROAD - 1st Press - released in STEREO on APPLE PCS 7088 in 1969. This was the first Beatles LP to be released in Stereo only and this example offered for sale is in nice EX to EX- condition .
It is identified as being a First Pressing as:
· It is on The Dark green Apple label.
· The label does NOT have ‘Sold in the U.K…statement.
· The inner sleeve is black.
· The Apple logo is aligned to Side 1 track listing on the rear sleeve.
· The matrix numbers are Side one: YEX 749-2 / side two: YEX 750-1. These are the earliest stereo pressing matrices for the ABBEY ROAD LP – and these matrices are regarded as carrying a full stereo sound.
The detailed description of this 1st press ABBEY ROAD is as follows:
· The iconic Garrod & Lofthouse picture sleeve cover is in EXCELLENT condition with some minor creases and some minor ring-wear. The cover is nice and clean with a lovely sheen to it.
· The disc labels are very clean and in EX condition.
· I have kept the LP housed in a plain white inner for many years to protect the original black inner. Both will be supplied to the winner. The original black inner is in VG condition: with some tears on it - but it is fully intact.
· Visually the vinyl is in EX- condition. The vinyl is very clean with a nice sheen. There are some hairline marks and some surface marks that do not affect play at all.
· I have just test played the LP for the first time in many years and the stereo sounds lovely with a full dynamic range on my hi-fi.
IN summary this is a very nice EX to EX- condition example of the BEATLES first press STEREO LP Abbey Road. It has been very well looked after over the years as part of my personal collection and has been kept in a plastic sleeve.
The tracks are: Side 1: Come Together/Something/Maxwell`s Silver Hammer/Oh ! Darling/Octopus`s Garden/I Want You (She`s So Heavy)/ Side 2: Here Comes The Sun/Because/You Never Give Me Your Money/Sun King/Mean Mr Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window/Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End.
