Let It Be is the final original album released by The Beatles. It was released on May 8, 1970 by the band's own Apple Records label, shortly after the group's announced breakup!!!

Most of Let It Be was recorded in January 1969, before the recording and release of the album Abbey Road. The Beatles were unhappy with the album and it was temporarily shelved. Let It Be was later 're-produced' by Phil Spector in 1970.!!!!!

By late 1968, Paul McCartney was eager for the Beatles to perform live again, more than two years after they gave up touring. But McCartney wanted the group to make a grand statement, or rather something unorthodox. At the time, there was a great deal of tension among the Beatles, who had been pursuing a number of personal projects over the course of the previous six months!!!.

The group began rehearsals at Twickenham Studios on 2 January 1969. No multi-track recordings were made of these sessions, as the Beatles were rehearsing for the live show rather than attempting to record an album. (Despite this, there are widely available bootlegs taken from the mono recordings that were synchronized to the film cameras.) A number of possible locations for the live show were discussed during the Twickenham rehearsals, with the leading candidates being a Roman amphitheatre in North Africa or a cruise ship. At one point, Lennon sarcastically suggested that they perform in "an insane asylum"!!!.

Everyone involved in the Twickenham rehearsals considered them to be disastrous. By the third day of rehearsal the group openly discussed whether they should break up. Lennon had all but withdrawn creatively from the Beatles, seldom contributing even to the arrangements of his own songs. Harrison was increasingly resentful; while he was treated respectfully by musical colleagues such as Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, when working within the Beatles his songs usually were either derided or ignored. McCartney's attempts to hold the band together and rally spirits came across as controlling. The constant presence of Lennon's companion and artistic partner Yoko Ono -- who often spoke on Lennon's behalf as he sat silently by -- was a major source of tension. The intrusive film cameras and the cold, unfamiliar settings of Twickenham Studios also contributed to ill feelings. Finally, Harrison became fed up with Lennon's creative and communicative disengagement from the band, and on 10 January announced that he was "leaving the band now". Within a few days Harrison was persuaded to return to the group, who moved to their own Apple Studios!!!.

Multi-track recording began when the group moved to Apple Studios on 22 January, continuing until 31 January Harrison brought in keyboardist Billy Preston to ease tensions and supplement the band for the live performances. Preston worked with the Beatles from 22–31 January!!!.

The live concert idea culminated with the Beatles and Preston performing 30 January on the rooftop of the Beatles' Apple Building at 3 Savile Row before a small audience of friends and employees!!.

The performance was cut short by the police after complaints about noise. The complete concert has circulated amongst bootleg collectors for many years. Three numbers recorded at the rooftop concert, namely Dig a Pony, I've Got a Feeling, and One After 909, do appear on the album, while several spoken parts of the concert appear between tracks that were recorded in studio!!!.

The Vinyl

This is the heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl (only found on 1st pressings) These have deeper grooves and are much more robust than later press!!(Only found like this on the earliest pressings of this album!

On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome and still retains its original sheen from new and lays perfectly flat on the turntable,  Absolutely super glossy apearance, retained from new! It is quite obvious to me that this vinyl has barely ever been played, the fact that you can still see the plastic in the spindle hole is one indication,, at least this has certainly not been overplayed in my opinion. Only in strong light could possibly and \very (very) few light whispy sleeve removal marks\scuffs be seen only! (no) marks that would or indeed would have any major adverse effect on the awesome audio Quality that I heard and (no) loud clicks or pops at all!!! Absolutely remarkable for this mega rare early 1st press vinyl!

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl through track for track on a top system at very loud volume and in my opinion this not only looks but sounds barely ever played at all, absolutely stunning on all frequencies!!! Superbe cristal clear and vibrant throughout the first thing to note is that there is absolutely (no) loud clicks or pops and the audio is clear and very vibrant!! This plays through very near to perfect on my systems even at very loud volume, there was just very light static heard especially on the last two tracks cleaning should help enhance the audio quality in my opinion! ,, super bassey feel that can only be found on theses earliest pressings!! The seperation on this vinyl is to die for, and all of the instruments are heard clearly and mega vibrant throughout! Please note! any interfearance is extreemely minimal only noticable at very loud volume in minor isolated quiet places only in the form of minor isolated background staticcrackle/tick only!  In general lovely and quiet in between tracks and is definately graded at the very top! Also the earliest to boot! I would class my self as highly critical when it comes down to the audio quality . Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normaly get it right! This audio will be hard to surpass,, I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint in my opinion! .

Please note! I always add this disclaimer!  I have carefully played this vinyl at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system. Please allow for the odd isolated light distant static crackle\tick perhapes heard during isolated quiet places only, (not consistant throughoutt the audio)! Please remember that this is a genuine 39 year old original vinyl that would have originally been played on a 39 year old system!!!! In my opinion this audio is absolutely up there at the very top of any grading system! Very, very near perfect on my systems! I heard no real major problems at all!!

It is important to note that this album has been stored in a case , laying dormant for over 35 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves cases static ticks and crackle! A constant clean before each play is highly recomended, this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!!

The labels

These are the original and earliest (DARK APPLE LABEL) superbe condition! Only angled in strong light can just a handfull spider marks possibly be seen.  There is little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round, and tight on the spindle,, (you can still even see thwe plastic in the spindle hole (see photos). Please note! It is my opinion that this vinyl has barely ever been played at all, and certainly not been played in the last 25 years or more and of coarse very earliest\early copy and highly collectable like this!!

The Record sleeve

This is the original plain white patented sleeve ''made in England' no splits or tares!

The cover

This is the original 1st press fully laminated GARROD & LOFTHOUSE COVER!!! Features the RED APPLE LOGO at the rear (only 1st press covers) rarely ever seen in this awesome condition! Barely any real creases to mention , (no) real storageware to talk of indeed! This has its original  SUPER GLOSSY APEARANCE! UNBELEIVABLE (see photos) Very, very lightest of ringware\rubbing only can only really be seen angled to the light if scrutinised! Very minor laminat lift at top edge only noticable if looked for. (THIS COVER BEING PRIMARILY BLACK IN COLOUR IS SO DIFFICULT TO FIND IN THIS AWESOME CONDITION BELEIVE ME!!) Points to note! please look at the spine This has (not) been crushed with age! Only the earliest of these covers had flatish rounded spines !!! (later press covers feature flat end spines with pinched ends) THIS COVER IS MEGA RARE AND THE EARLIST 1ST! Originally introduced with the boxset! Only a very few were released individually as a single album!! (Always been stored seperate from the vinyl for protection the way that I have always stored my records!!) Graded at least excellent plus in my opinion! Lovely example!
