The Beatles
"A Hard Day's Night"
Parlophone PMC 1230
matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N/XEX 482-3N
Original 1964 UK 1st Press Mono LP with 'The Parlophone Co' label text with recording first published and 'sold in the UK' label text ..
stampers: 1/1 to both sides .. letters look like HH or similar to side 1 and HT on side2 ..
Both Record and Sleeve accurately graded Near/Mint ..
Audibly this record plays Mint ..
This is possibly the earliest original Hard Day's Night example you could ever find ..
with '1' stampers to both sides on run out grooves they rarely come up for sale ...
Taken from my own collection that I've built up over thirty years and currently selling off bit by bit on ebay you would be hard pushed to find another in this condition ..
Audibly this is of the highest standard .. It's rarely been on a turntable but I have just played it through again and it plays as a mint record all the way through, played on my expensive system this has to be one of the most pleasurable sounding Hard Day's Night's you could ever sit down and listen to.. as you would expect crisp and clear sound from start to finish and remarkably silent in between tracks - I can't hear a single imperfection - certainly no jumps or skips no pops clicks or even surface crackle, I just don't know how you could improve on this sound, all I can add is this record plays the same as when it was new back in 1964 ..
Pressed on thick quality 60's vinyl, visually when held up in normal daylight record is impressive with unmarked glossy surfaces I could grade this Mint and leave it there but I always inspect records under the harshest bright light at all angles and being hyper-critical theres the very lightest wispy surface traces of removal from the liner theres always going to be a little because of the nature of the original crinkle liner if you look hard enough - believe me this record is very hard to criticize at all - well worthy of it's near-mint grade ..
from the labels it's hard to make out any signs of previous play maybe two light small spindle lines if you look hard, this condition continues with the Garrod & Lofthouse 'patent pending' flipback sleeve .. super throughout - clear sparkling lamination on the front - sharp square corners and edges the back panel is pure white and non of the usual brown faded areas you usually see, extremely well preserved flipbacks, this comes complete with it's correct original 'Use Emitex' crinkle poly-lined die-cut inner , interestingly when you inspect the records run out grooves the side1 matrix number is stamped at the top of the label deadwax not the usual bottom follow it round and you see the stamper letters and '1' in the usual 3'o'clock and 9 o'clock positions,
I've had over thirty years experience and this has to be visually graded a true Near-Mint example in anyones book .. the sound is Mint .. that's an honest and accurate description, remarkable for a record that's 42 years old,
I don't need to use all the usual buzz words or waffle and dribble to get to the point, simply .. If you've been looking (and waiting) for a fine quality First press Hard Day's Night with 1/1 stampers that won't disappoint then look no further ...here it is ...
I hope it goes to another good home !
