This is a very solid all around offering which showcases a stunning genuine 3rd state (peeled) Butcher Cover with a jacket that has very little wear for a nearly 50 year old cover. This particular cover was very well cared for and properly stored for the last 50 years. The price on this particular piece is more than justified by the overall condition. The seams and spine are very nice and the jacket overall is very clean with the exception being a very fine cut-out cut in the top right corner of the white border on the "T" in the catalog number T2553. The peel itself is also very nice. Butcher Covers of this quality are becoming more and more scarce and even unpeeled mono Butcher Covers are commanding prices that well exceed 1k for anything of decent quality. THIS IS A GREAT CHANCE TO PURCHASE A GENUINE BUTCHER ALBUM, AT A GREAT PRICE ! Please review all condition issues that are specifically detailed below prior to bidding. 

For those who don't know, this is the famous album that was banned by Capitol records prior to release in 1966 and then covered over with the more familiar trunk cover.The butcher scene was deemed too gruesome for the general public. As a result, Capitol destroyed a great quantity of these but eventually found it more economical to cover the offending jacket with the more familiar trunk cover.

For terminology sake: 1st state: is a copy that was never covered over with a trunk cover. They are extremely rare and were practically never sold in stores and only used as promos for radio and sales managers. 2nd state: is a butcher cover with the trunk cover pasted over. 3rd state: Is a 2nd state butcher cover that has had its trunk cover(hopefully professionally) removed.

Our reserves are the most reasonable on Ebay ! First state butchers have sold for as much as $40,000! You can own a real 3rd state butcher for a tiny fraction of that cost.These are quickly being snatched up by collectors as fast as they appear.

As you can see from the photo , this is a truly gorgeous example of this rare treasure.

SPECIFIC CONDITION OF THIS ITEM IS AS FOLLOWS:

The front cover, as you can see from the photos, is stunning. Beautiful colors and gorgeous fine detail. You simply won't find a better price for a Butcher Cover of this quality. High quality offerings are few and far between and command top dollar. The butcher slick is awesome and, as you can see from the photos, there is none of the tell tale tragic damage you often encounter on 3rd state peeled Butcher Cover slicks. We would still put this butcher slick up against any of what you see out there and certainly anything in this reserve price range. Any Capitol factory glue residue or minor fine touch up to any abnormalities caused by the paste over or removal process is very minimal. Please examine large photos for a good look.

The spine, top and bottom seams are nice and complete with just a very fine cut-out slice in the catalog number at the very top right hand corner of the jacket. Out side of cracking open-end a 50 year old sealed copy, you won't find a jacket in overall better shape. The back of the jacket is very clean and is very white for a jacket of this age and has next to no wear. The removed trunk slick is included, but shows obvious wrinkling and wear and tear from the peeling process.Although the seams are complete on this cover, due to the age of the jacket , we strictly advise against placing and storing a record and inner sleeve inside the jacket as doing this would cause possible future pressure and damage to seams and 50 year old paper. This auction includes an original Capitol Gold colored inner sleeve and mono record visually graded in VG condition (a few light papers scuffs on bands 1-3 on side one, otherwise very clean) .
