Description
Beatles Partially Peeled West Coast Stereo #5 Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
Modern Art, or Disaster ? You decide. We recently took this mostly peeled Stereo Butcher Cover in on trade from a regular customer. This is probably the lowest price genuine stereo cover we have ever offered. Far from the best we have offered, but not the worst we've seen out there either. That being said, it is an entry level piece that won't make you sell your car to buy. Definitely not for the picky buyer but a great piece for somebody that wants a rarer genuine stereo copy but don't have a small fortune to spend.
While far from a great peel, this is cool in a way as it displays both peeled and unpeeled sections. Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.
Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a most difficult to remove adhesive. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand or more bad to mediocre peels. This one seems to have been exposed to some moisture or humidity at some point that can tend to lock in the trunk cover and make these even more impossible to peel. This is just speculation as we have no idea what went on here as far as the peel process. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.
This item will be safely and securely boxed in a Mighty Mailer and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:
Front Peeled Butcher Slick is mostly revealed although some of the pasted trunk cover remains. The band members have been revealed for the most part in all their gory glory with only part of Ringo's face showing some abrasion towards the mouth opening. There are pieces of unremoved trunk slick, some tears and abrasions, touch up etc in several parts of the jacket. Additionally, there are the telltale signs that are often seen of the factory horizontal glue lines that often appear that were a result of the trunk slick application/pasteover process in 1966.
Please see photos to verify the specific conditions described and feel free to contact with questions. The item shown is exact item that you will receive.
Seams:
Top and bottom seams appear to have been mostly split and repaired (please see photos of top and bottom seams). To protect what remains of the seams and avoid future damage, a record should never be attempted to be placed into this jacket.
Spine:
Spine, like the top and bottom seams appear to have been split (and repaired) and lost most of the paper containing the spine printing.(See Spine photo).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket shows moderate foxing, staining (Tape residue and other staining), some paper loss at top right hand corner and owners name written on the top. (see photo of back of jacket).
Trunk Slick:
Sorry but no trunk slick included on this one other than the remaining pieces that are still attached.
Record: Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in G+ visual condition (lots of light scratches/sleeve scuffs but nothing too deep) by conservative Goldmine standards. Has not been play graded. Sorry but there is NO CAPITOL INNER SLEEVE with this record. Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $16.99 for priority shipping in a Mighty Mailer record shipping box with tracking. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. This is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please not that T- Shirt seen in background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction and is for display purposes only.
Thank You !
