Beatles 3rd State Gorgeous Peeled LA #6 Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
If you've been looking for a genuine and authentic 3rd State (peeled) LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover that you will be proud to display at a decent price, then this one might be for you. One of our covers was recently purchased in the last three weeks and then flipped for a higher price by another well known vinyl dealer in less than a month. Not the first time that this has happened. This proves that our prices are more than reasonable within the current market. These correctly peeled #6 jackets are much harder to come by in displayable condition.
See video for a 10 second time lapse of this peel:

Although it is sad each week to see more and more recently poorly peeled covers go up for sale, the good news is that jackets such as this that present well are only increasing in value as more and more get destroyed by amateur peel attempts. TheButcherCover, on the other hand to these notable amateur efforts, have consistently and correctly peeled the most difficult examples from every Capitol manufacturing plant (#2,#3,#5,#6) for over 4 decades. These examples have been exhibited in books, youtube and many other notable outlets for decades.Their jackets are are not produced by a "Johnny Come Lately' with a tea kettle. Many of these folks buy our jackets that were peeled by TheButcherCover and flip them at a higher price. You have a choice, bid wisely and look around before buying.
While there is some commonly seen minor condition issues on this jacket (mostly confined to the spine of this jacket), this would still look great in a frame and won't cause you to skip your mortgage to purchase. Certainly one of the lowest priced genuine Butcher Cover on the net that presents this well. Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.
Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. These cannot be "steamed" off. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. Perhaps not for the super picky collector, but that special someone who wants a rarer and harder to peel LA Butcher Cover for a price well under others that don't look as nice that are selling for more. Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.
While the market is currently getting flooded with overhyped/overgraded peels with large obvious large scars/damage, the good news for buyers is that this is one of the more affordable/obtainable peels out there that still presents nicely that won't make you empty your bank account. Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. This one is better than what is usually seen out there in this price range. But don't just take our word for it, look around and compare what you are buying for what price. Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:
Front Peeled Butcher Slick is awesome and presents nicely overall without any evidence of large scars or serious damage from the peeling process that is usually seen.Look at the close up photo of Paul and George to see the quality. Very minimal factory glue residue or touch up on this. Beautiful colors and presentation on this one and it even shows part of the bench beneath John Lennon and the other Beatles. This is not always seen on these due to the way the slicks were trimmed at the factory.Make no mistake about it, these are very hard to peel properly but this example is a very nice peel for this price range.
Please see photos to verify specific condition and feel free to contact with questions.
Seams:
Top and bottom seams appear to be complete with the exception of a 1" edge crack at the end of the top seam and a slightly smaller one at the very end of the bottom seam. Both seams appears to be secure. (see seam photos). To protect the integrity what remains of the seams, a record should never be attempted to be forced into this jacket.
Spine:
Spine appears to have cracked throughout but appears to have been neatly secured. While some print is present, much of the spine paper has flaked off. The price has accordingly been reduced by hundreds due to the less than great spine condition. Still, it's pretty much a non issue if one were to frame this jacket. (See Spine photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket is fairly clean with light wear/tanning and an abrasion spot near the EMI logo. (see photo of back of jacket).
Trunk Slick:
Sorry but there is no trunk slick included. (See last photo and YouTube video link above for jacket during peeling process).
Record/Inner Sleeve:
Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in Good to VG- condition. VG labels. Some light scuffs and scratches but plays ok without skips. Record has some light static type of background noise that indicates that it was probably played on a cheaper 60's player possible with a needle past its prime. The original owner must have liked "And Your Bird Can Sing" and "Day Tripper" as those tracks is a little more noisy. Not completely trashed but not that great. Sorry but there is no inner sleeve included in this auction.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $29.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $29.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
T-Shirt Seen in Background on first few photos is NOT INCLUDED.
