Beatles 3rd State Peeled LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
If you've been looking for an affordable rarer LA #6 Butcher Cover that won't spank your wallet but aren't super picky about total perfection, this might be for you. While there is some condition issues with mostly confined to the top seam and spine, this would still look great in a frame and won't cause you to skip your mortgage to purchase. Certainly the lowest priced genuine Butcher Cover we have offered in a while. Please read the specific description for specific details on condition.
Finding a peeled West Coast Butcher Cover that doesn't look like it's ready for the trash can is not an easy task. If you always wanted a real Butcher Cover but didn't want to spend over $900 to 2k or more, than this might be for you ! This blows away the crap out there in this price range with horrible touch up claiming to be VG. Take a shot at the opening bid. Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. While this is not an absolutely perfect peel and the jacket has some wear and seam issues, this won't cost you over $900 or more and if one were to get this professionally framed, it would look just about as nice as a far more expensive peel costing hundreds more. Look around and compare. Perhaps not for the super picky collector, but that special someone who wants a real Butcher Cover for a reachable price that still presents well.
While the market is currently getting flooded with overhyped peels with large obvious large scars/damage with bad touch up falsely claiming to be "professional", the good news for buyers is that this is one of the more affordable/obtainable peels out there for under $899 that still presents nicely that won't make you skip your mortgage Such is the case here and this jacket offers quite a decent bang for the buck ! These Los Angeles covers with the notorious factory super glue have been destroyed by the thousands and continue to be destroyed through amateur peeling attempts. Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. This one is better than what is usually seen out there in this price range. But don't just take our word for it, look around and compare what you are buying for what price. Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:
Front Peeled Butcher Slick presents nicely overall with the exception of some very minor pinpoint touched up spots that don 't take away from the overall nice appearance. Compare these tiny spots to the large obvious badly touched up scars on easier to peel Scranton Butcher Covers in this price range. This cover could be easily be professionally matted and framed and this would look just about as nice as a much most costly peel. The good news is that this colorful and respectable #6 Butcher Cover could be yours possibly for a bid of under $899. As you can see from the photos, nothing from the peeling process (glue residue, minute pinpoint touch up to tiny abrasions, etc) detracts greatly from the awesome presentation of this jacket. This is unusual from what is generally offered on these specific jackets.Take a look and judge for yourself. 90% of these tough to peel jackets are destroyed with huge tears and other damage from amateur peeling. See last photos for peeling process.
Please see photos to verify specific condition and feel free to contact with questions.
Seams:
Top seam has some cracking throughout that was closed with adhesive to reduce any further spreading (see top seam photos). The bottom seam is complete and solid with just a single tiny chip of paper missing. (See bottom seam photo). Seams have been closed in the areas that show cracking. (See bottom seam photo). To protect what remains of the seams, a record should never be attempted to be forced into this jacket.
Spine:
Spine shows most of the printing still there and a majority of the spine paper is intact but there is cracks/paper loss mostly confined to the last half of the spine. (See Spine photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket shows general light wear and some paper chipping on the very top of the back with some minor moisture spotting mostly confined to the right side of the jacket on top side and bottom (see photo of back of jacket).
Trunk Slick:
A small piece of the removed trunk slick as seen in one of the last photos will be included in this auction.
Record/Inner Sleeve:
Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in Good to VG- condition (some light scratches/scuffs more on side 1 than 2). Dark Marker name or initials on side 1 label. Original Olive Capitol West Coast PE-12-2BL Inner Sleeve included (Yesterday and Today was issued by Capitol with EITHER the leftover Olive 65 or Orange 66 sleeves) .
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $29.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $39.99. No International Shipping on this item. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
T-Shirt Seen in Background on first few photos is NOT INCLUDED.
Thank You and Happy Bidding !
