Description
Up for bidding is an extremely rare and excellent condition 1965 UK pressing of A Hard Days Night, with the OUTLINE STEREO on the cover.
Beatles collectors will know this is the rarest of all A Hard Days Night pressings, and even more, one of the rarest Beatles pressings. Only Beatles For Sale and Help were pressed with an outline stereo on the front cover; yet here is an original UK pressing of A Hard Days Night with the stereo outline. It is not known how this came to be, but in any event only a very small number of A Hard Days Night were printed with the outline stereo and you will likely never have this opportunity again.
This original UK 1965 pressing has no “First Published “ text on the labels, “The Gramophone Company” text, “Sold in the UK” text, a KT tax code. The labels are excellent condition, with only light spindle marks and otherwise flawless. Cat. No. PCS 3058. Matrix numbers: YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1. Stampers: 3/MM & 2/MR.
The Emitex sleeve is in good condition; the only flaw is cellophane repaired split on one side and is otherwise perfect.
The vinyl is in very good (++) to excellent (-) condition overall. Side one is a full excellent with no visible marks. On side two there are a couple light small marks, and one that is easily seen and runs across the length of the side. The marks do not affect the play quality.
This incredibly rare stereo outline G & L cover is in very good (+) condition. There is no edge wear, no spine wear, only the slightest corner wear, and only a few creases on the left corners and bottom area. The back has only very light yellowing and a small amount of light grubbiness on the bottom area. There is also a small “W” stamped in the bottom right corner.
The play quality is outstanding, rated at excellent. The only flaw I can detect is several light clicks on “I should have known better”. Otherwise, this is a near flawless copy, very quiet run ins and at times near silent. Listening to the first track of side one, A Hard Days Night, is a treat with the near silent run in to the first chord. Other songs are outstanding to the level where you get chills listening to them, such as “Things we said today” and “And I love her”.
This LP was sourced in the UK by a reputable and well-established UK dealer about 5 years ago when I acquired my UK Beatles collection. I picked up a number of Beatles rarities, and this is one of them. It has not been played even once since I purchased it, other than my initial play to verify condition upon purchase, and just recently once again to have one more listen to this incredible sounding UK music. There is nothing that sounds like an excellent condition UK 1st press Beatles album…certainly no CD sounds like this. I am now selling off my prized collection of UK 1st press Beatles albums. Check my other current listings, including other rarities, and I will be listing more, so keep an eye out.
I will ship to most locations worldwide; for other than the USA, Canada and UK please contact me first before bidding. The LP will be shipped with professional quality packaging. Please contact me with any questions. Shipping and insurance at actual cost only, I make no money on shipping. Paypal preferred, pleas contact me before bidding for any other payment.

On Jul-04-12 at 22:12:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I would like to offer a few comments on my listing this as a 1965 pressing. I purchased this album in March 2004 from my UK dealer. He was confident in the 1965 year of issue, and the online searching I did at the time seemed to support that. Here is a label history site: (“dot” interjected): wwwdot.jpgr.co.uk/pcs3058.html. This site seems to confirm my listing as a 1965 (second pressing) issue. Here’s another site: yokono.co.uk/collection/uk/guide. This site has excellent label pictures and the label of my listed AHDN appears to run, according to this site, from August 1965 – August 1966, with the next label variant starting in Dec. 1966. I leave it to you to research and decide. I am comfortable with the 1965 listing. Thanks
