Here’s the package, in the order of release date:   

LOVE ME DO / P. S. I LOVE YOU 

“Love Me Do,” The Beatles' first single, was released in England in Oct. 1962 on the Parlophone label. It was only a hint of things to come. In America, it didn’t come out until April 1964, after Beatlemania was well underway, and hit the top of Billboard’s singles chart in May. This Tollie-9008 features green print on a yellow label with the tollie logo in a thick, counterclockwise box. The disc has survived the decades well. with a wonderful sound and only minor ringwear.   

PLEASE PLEASE ME / FROM ME TO YOU 

“From Me to You” was The Beatles’ first #1 on the UK Record Retailer chart. However, it did not make an impact in the U.S. when first released by Vee Jay records in 1963 as VJ-522 (backed with “Thank You Girl”). Even when rereleased in Jan. 1964 on VJ-581, as the B-side of “Please Please Me,” it reached only #42. This label variation features the VJ brackets logo and the perimeter rainbow band, with thick print title. There's ringwear, but only minor degradation of audio.       

SHE LOVES YOU / I’LL GET YOU 

The Swan record was totally ignored when it was first released in Sept., 1963. By the following January, things were certainly different. This label version of Swan S-4152 (and there are many), is black with thick silver print, “Don’t Drop Out” on the upper left, and quotes around the title. It has the “Mastering Reco-Art Phila. and 1/8” S-4152I/S” stamping on the trail-off of both sides. The disc is in amazing condition, and sounds as good as it looks! 

I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND / I SAW HER STANDING THERE 

You won't find one with both sound and appearance as excellent as this. A great reminder of their breakout in America. 

CAN’T BUY ME LOVE / YOU CAN’T DO THAT 

 For an almost sixty-year-old record, this one's in remarkable condition. VG+ sound, and only a small number sticker and minor smudging distract from its appearance.   

A HARD DAY’S NIGHT/ I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER 

This is an East Coast First Press, designated by the publishing credit and the A-Side title on one line. It sounds just fine, with some normal ringwear but no tearing and no "outside" marks at all. 

I FEEL FINE / SHE’S A WOMAN 

The Beatles ended 1964 with these two dynamic recordings featuring John and Paul, respectively, on lead vocals. This copy has some surface noise that can be minimized with most equipment, but the labels defy their age for sure. 

EIGHT DAYS A WEEK / I DON’T WANT TO SPOIL THE PARTY 

Here's a representative from the West Coast pressing plant, which we know because the B-Side title is on three, not two, lines. Although this one has a small scrape on the A-Side label and some expected ringwear, the excellent sound makes up for it bigtime. 

TICKET TO RIDE / YES IT IS 

This East Coast First Press, like all the subsequent labels for this record, shows the name of the Beatles 1965 film as “Eight Arms to Hold You,” before it was renamed “Help!” There’s age-appropriate surface noise and label wear. John always said that “Yes It Is" was one of their most underrated productions. 

HELP / I’M DOWN 

This disc, like others in the package, also looks and sounds like it was rarely, if ever, played. It doesn't need any "help" at all. 

YESTERDAY / ACT NATURALLY  

When Paul sang “Yesterday” on the August 14, 1965 Ed Sullivan Show, the audience was hushed into silence, having never heard it before. This East Coast First Pressing is terrific, with only a name written on both sides keeping it from perfection. 
 

* WE CAN WORK IT OUT / DAY TRIPPER 

This was the first of the Beatles’ records to have both sides reach Number One. It was rushed out in the U.S. before the length of the songs was known. This later pressing included run times on the label. Only small initials on both sides keep it from being closer to Near Mint level.   

PAPERBACK WRITER / RAIN 

This East Coast First Pressing is as clean as they come, sound-wise. A hand-written name on the A-Side is all that keeps this handsome disc from Near Mint status.   

* YELLOW SUBMARINE / ELEANOR RIGBY 

Neither song made #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 (shocking, to consider how they're both so beloved today). However, it was a double-A-side chart-topper in the UK, so therefore qualifies for this package. There's a small name in ink on one side and ringwear on both, but the sound has really held up gloriously.  

PENNY LANE / STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER 

Surprisingly, this was not a double-sided Number One record. “Strawberry Fields Forever” was a bit too far out for record buyers in early 1967, but Paul’s “Penny Lane” was more accessible to young listeners. The song originally featured a trumpet solo ending, and labels were printed with the running time as 3:00. A final remix without the trumpet (now running 2:57) was sent to Capitol too late to change the label on first pressings like this one. The disc itself has some small hand-written numbers and label wear.       

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE / BABY YOU’RE A RICH MAN 

Later issues put a comma in the title Baby, You’re a Rich Man. No comma here. The disc shows some ringwear and audio age, but is clean with no damage by a previous owner. 

HELLO, GOODBYE / I AM THE WALRUS 

This is a fine early East Coast pressing, as is evident with the Maclen Music, Inc. credit on both sides. Later pressings had the correct Comet Music credit on the B-side. The sound quality is fine, indeed, with just a hint of label wear. 

LADY MADONNA / THE INNER LIGHT 

This fabulous copy—aurally and visually—is a West Coast second press. The hand-etched matrix number identifies it as having been manufactured in L.A. The inital pressings were rushed out before the running times of the songs were known. This disc came soon after with the correct information. 

HEY JUDE / REVOLUTION 

“Hey Jude” was the first single released on the Beatles’ new Apple label, and reigned as Number One on the Billboard charts for an incredible nine weeks. This disc is called a Third Pressing from the Scranton plant. It has a producer's credit to George Martin and Mfg. by Apple Records Inc. on the B-Side perimeter. It's a great copy of a timeless song.  

GET BACK / DON’T LET ME DOWN 

This is a 2nd Pressing out of the Scranton facility. The label includes the songs’ running time, and the “with Billy Preston” credit. It looks perfect and sounds amazing.   

THE BALLAD OF JOHN AND YOKO / OLD BROWN SHOE 

This early pressing has the Capitol logo perimeter print. Later pressings have the Apple logo. It’s pretty flawless.   

* SOMETHING/ COME TOGETHER 

A double-sided #1 that’s in absolutely wonderful condition. Note the George Martin credit on this first pressing. 

LET IT BE / YOU KNOW MY NAME (LOOK UP THE NUMBER) 

Another awesome disc in this astounding package. This is a Scranton PA pressing with the logo of the manufacturer—Bell Sound—and initials of mastering engineer Sam Feldman in the trail-off dead wax. An interesting note: the B-side mistakenly shows the name of the song as “You Know My Name (Look Up My Number).” The actual name is: “(Look Up the Number).” It was never corrected. 

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD / FOR YOU BLUE 

A wonderful, flawless disc of a tremendous Paul song. As you know, Paul disliked producer Phil Spector’s unsupervised mix of the song, especially his inclusion of a choir. Take a look at the dead wax for the scribbled “Phil & Ronnie.”
