Offered for auction is a beautiful example of the limited-edition boxset, The Beatles Mono Collection, of which only 1000 units of this black-box edition were manufactured. The boxset offered in this auction is number 80.

This magnificent boxset was issued in 1982 and collected together the eight original Beatles albums which had been issued in mono in the 1960's. The majority were made from the original 1960's tube cuts and so are highly regarded by audiophiles in addition to being highly-prized among collectors.

Sgt Pepper's and The Beatles (white album) are complete with their inclusions.

CONDITION: BOX
the box grades as EX+. It has one or two minor bumps and a single scuff (does not reveal white). The front and top flap hinges are fully intact and still retain stiffness in the opening action. Lip edges are even and unfeathered. All silver text is clear and unworn. Rivets are tight against the box. The textured black veneer is not ripped, split or bubbled.

CONDITION: VINYL
the minimum grade for the vinyl is EX+ and I am sorely tempted to apply the grade of NM to a few of them (the white album for example).

CONDITION: LABELS
labels of all albums are as close to NM as one can get but I have to list them as EX+ out of respect for the 'NM' grade itself. Note that Yellow Submarine, although having the correct XEX mono matrices for both sides, actually has a stereo label on side 1 and a mono label on side 2; this was common for the YS copies in this particular boxset (corrected for the red-box edition)

CONDITION: SLEEVES
the majority of the sleeves are EX+ but three of the eight have shortcomings which require itemising:

The front face of Please Please Me has minor creasing to the bottom-right corner.

The front image of the Help! sleeve has a desaturated appearance which is the result of the original printing process and not a consequence of being left out in the sun.

Rubber Soul has slight top-seam cracking from pressure caused by the LP during transportation; it has not split however.

In summary, it is unlikely that you will find another copy of this boxset in as excellent an across-the-board condition as the one offered in this auction.
