This auction is for a very rare, original MONO 1st pressing of the Beatles 1969 LP 'Yellow Submarine' on the dark Apple label. This is the early 1st press with features the red lines on the back cover and no credit for Garrod and Lofthouse on the overflap.
Yellow Submarine was the last Beatles LP to be issued in both mono and stereo in the UK as, by 1969, mono was pretty much a completely dead, obsolete format. The price of stereo discs matched their mono counterparts and stereo record players were now much easily affordable by this time, and so pretty much nobody bought mono.
Today is it becoming increasingly difficult to find Yellow Submarine in mono. Only a very small number were ever pressed before it was made unavailable and even less were sold! Comes complete with its original black inner sleeve!

The cover is holding up okay but is showing its age. The front has yellowed a little but still has a nice, rich colour to it. The laminate has a very light dirt buildup on it and a little disc impression. the corners have rounded slightly and there's slight wear down the mouth edge. Top seam is holding tight with a few spots where he laminate has cracked and taken a little of the paper with it, but there are no splits or tears or anything. The bottom seam is holding tight but has a little laminate crack in the middle that tas taken about half an inch of the paper underneath with it causing a little white mark. But this isn't a split and the seam is holding up fine. The spine has a few little creases running through it but is unsplit and unworn with all text fully legible. The back, like the front, has yellowed a little with some light browning down the mouth and spine sides. A previous owner has written track times by each song with a total time at the top left. The overflaps are stuck tight with some laminate creases in them. There's a very small tear in the laminate at the top right as can be seen in the photo above. Overall, holding okay! Inner Sleeve: GOOD+

The original sugar paper black inner sleeve is included. It's holding okay although one side seam has torn in the middle about 4 or so inches. The other side, and the bottom seam, are just beginning to show a split in the very middle. There's some light creasing and some light wear on the opening. In black pen someone has drawn an S within a Y and then, under that, 'WOFFS' and then, below that 'YELLOW SUBMARINE'. I've taken a photo to show this. There are also a few little white spots on the front and back. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : G+

The playing surface has a really nice, crisp shine to it and has a fair amount of light, faint scuffing on both sides. The grading is low because there are also a few slightly heavier looking surface scratches that can just about be felt under the fingernail. From what I can see there's two in the opening track of side 12, about 10mm each at the 6 o'clock position. At the 9 o'clock position on side 2 there are two light scratches in tracks 1 and 2. There's a light scratch on side 2 at the 3 o'clock position that runs through the opening track that can be felt under the fingernail. There are a few other, smaller, little knocks on side 2 but I can't feel them under the fingernail. it's a shame about these heavier marks as this disc has a lovely shine to it!

The labels are clean with a lovely, rich green colour. The side 1 label has just a couple of very light, faint little spindlemarks whereas the side 2 label has a fair amount of light, faint spindlewear. Both labels has a touch of wear around the centrehole. Nice labels!
