The Beatles - 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. PMC 7027
The Beatles 1967 UK 2nd MONO pressing of the 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' LP. This late 1967 variant press is the rarest of all the UK issues of this marvelous album. The reason being that the side two label features an incredibly rare label error which omits the track 'A Day In the Life'. Furthermore, to add to its rarity the album is in simply STUNNING EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition. Both sides have been very carefully play tested and sound truly glorious. This IS one of the rarest and finest copies of what is often regarded as the greatest album ever recorded.
The LP package which is fully complete is identical to the UK 1st pressing with the exception of the label error and the inner sleeve which on this issue is plain white and states 'PATENTS APPLIED FOR' and 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. Released on the yellow and black Parlophone label, both labels have the 'Sold in the UK....' statement and 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' rim print. Very unusually, NO 'KT' tax code is located anywhere on the labels or within the run out area. The vinyl is housed within the original and correct MONO only cover which also features the 'PATENTS PENDING' text.
This label error managed to get by the usually strict quality control team at EMI's pressing plant for only a very brief period before it was quickly corrected. Very, very few of these late 1967 issues exist and especially in such wonderful condition. This is the finest copy I have ever come across in many, many years of collecting.
The vinyl has the earliest possible matrix numbers for this LP:
Side 1: XEX 637-1 MMH 3 (0 or 8)?
Side 2: XEX 638-1 MMM 1 9
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT+ condition on side 1 and MINT- condition on side 2. This LP sounds amazing one of the finest copies.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition.
The inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition.
The cut out sheet is in MINT- condition. Perfect.
