Description

An extremely rare record by BEA BENJAMIN aka "Sathima" (wife of South African pianist/composer, Dollar Brand/Abdullah Ibrahim), found on the EKAPA label, #001 (a vanity imprint), and issued from recordings at the Downtown Sound Studios, NYC, in April, 1979, called "Sathima Sings Ellington" - in loving tribute to Duke Ellington with whom she worked.  Mr. Brand also produced the album.  Tunes are:  "In A Mellow Tone"; "Prelude To A Kiss"; "Sophisticated Lady"; "Mood Indigo"; "Lush Life"; "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart" and "Solitude".  Cover is in good condition; but there is a split developing along the top seam, and light ring wear as well as rubbing at the corners.  Vinyl looks to be in near mint to mint condition.  There are extremely light surface marks due to the paper sleeve.  Free shipping within continental United States.
