Description
BBC Transcription LP 1979 Cambridge Folk Festival 3 and 4
3 (side 1) Maddy Prior with her band (one of the founders of Steelye Span) duration just 29 minutes
There is no cue sheet but I can tell you that the Maddy Prior has a more polished performance than Loudon. Her set includes a distinctly jazzy number and finishes with what is closer to Rock 'n' Roll than folk - played in open air in the rain.
4 (side 2) Loudon Wainwright III. A bit over improvised The set finishing with the only number I know 'Dead Skunk' (in the middle of the road)
The LP plays very well indeed with hardly any clicks - not bad for a 40 year old record that's done the rounds.
This auction is going to end near Christmas so would be posted during the 'rush' Expect the delivery to take longer than usual although I will still post 1 working day after payment reaches my bank which is not the same day as you complete check-out.
These LP's were sent to radio stations all over the world. For a fee they would be able to broadcast the programmes on the LP a number of times over a period of about 3 years denoted by the expiry date. The LP was then supposed to be destroyed or returned to the BBC in London. A number of studio / station managers or DJ's must have decided the LP's were too good to throw away! The BBC Transcription Service boast that they supply upwards of 200 Radio stations so the print run of these LP's is probably in that order. This LP may have had a shorter run than 200 as folk is not as popular as rock and pop or even comedy so fewer radio stations may have leased this issue making it even rarer. As many Radio Stations dutifully did as the BBC asked few of these LP's survived.
THE small print: Please read - -
If you buy more than one LP then wait for an invoice as it costs the same to post two as one . Three records cost a bit more.
I do not ship outside the U.K. and so I don't accept bids from outside the U.K.
