Description
A rare example of a BBC Transcription release from the late 1950s. Jazz Club was a short-lived show made during the jazz boom of the mid 50s, which recorded the best of the British Jazz scene and then released the performance for overseas broadcast. That any survived at all is a bit of a miracle. This one is a very good example, on one side it's the contemporary big band sound of the late Johnny Dankworth in fine form with his orchestra (accompanied by Cleo Laine and Frank Holder), and on the other the more traditional Dixieland sound of Eric Silk and his Southern Jazz Band. With a decent de-clicker, you could transfer these and clean them up very well. Unfortunately, the most affected by surface problems is the Cleo Laine track on 27 side 1. Nevertheless, these discs are a fantastic addition to any collection. Postage rates (Please ignore the maximum I'm allowed to put on by ebay, and I will send overseas).
